A team with RPI85 has never made it into the tournament. Syracuse has no business in the NCAA... ofcourse, they obviously draw a lot and the ACC wants money so they will push for the inclusion. It would be a shame to see them in the tournament

Syracuse lost to Miami (Fla)... huge hit, or huge lost opportunity for the ACC as far as attendance in Brooklyn.

We should invite Syracuse fans to hang out at MSG. They'll probably head over there anyway on their own. How pissed must they be... the Orangemen are out of the ACCT before the Big East has even tipped off in midtown.

So Syracuse has an RPI of 85 right now. They're 2-8 on the road, with the wins being at NC State and Clemson. They're 6-8 vs the Top 50, but all 6 wins were at home.

Common opponents with say Xavier:
both SU and XU went 1-0 vs Wake and Clemson.
Xavier swept both St John's and Georgetown, so 4-0.
Syracuse 0-2 vs SJU and GU.

Any team that lost at home to St. John's by 33 points, lost at home to Georgetown, and lost at a neutral site to UCONN this year, has no business being in the tournament. Would love to see it be those BE losses that keep them out.

Lunardi was saying they have a better resume than last year, but he neglected to mention last year's Syracuse team was aided by the fact Boeheim missed a bunch of games. well they dont have that excuse this year.

Honestly, they should be on the fence IMO, and if they sneak in, whatever... The "committee" bashing is an outlet for unwarranted frustration for the most part. 50% of the committee are ADs of mid-major programs. We're represented by Creighton's Rasmussen. As much as I love seeing Syracuse fans suffer, if they get in, they most likely deserved it over the likes of Rhode Island, Cal, Kansas State, etc.

The problem for Xavier though is that all of those wins in the comparison were prior to the Summer injury. The big question is how will the committee view those other pre-injury achievements. I don't think any of us really know.

You can just eliminate RPI as a metric going forward if they get in.....

This might make the move to a KenPom permanent. KenPom had Cuse at 44.

While I don't think Syracuse should get in, I won't be upset if they do. Although if they do, the Big East better get its 7. Their resume comes nowhere close to that of any Big East bubble team.

Looking at the bracket matrix, the last four + first four are as follows:

USC
Syracuse
Vanderbilt
Rhode Island
Illinois State
Kansas State
Iowa
Illinois

It's silly to kick and scream about Syracuse being in top 4 of that group.
