We should invite Syracuse fans to hang out at MSG. They'll probably head over there anyway on their own. How pissed must they be... the Orangemen are out of the ACCT before the Big East has even tipped off in midtown.

So Syracuse has an RPI of 85 right now. They're 2-8 on the road, with the wins being at NC State and Clemson. They're 6-8 vs the Top 50, but all 6 wins were at home.

Common opponents with say Xavier:
both SU and XU went 1-0 vs Wake and Clemson.
Xavier swept both St John's and Georgetown, so 4-0.
Syracuse 0-2 vs SJU and GU.

Add to that the fact that they ended the season in decline just like Xavier, losing 5 of their last 7. And, oh yeah, they lost to >200 BC.

You can just eliminate RPI as a metric going forward if they get in.....

This might make the move to a KenPom permanent. KenPom had Cuse at 44.

It better not. Making KenPom the primary NCAA selection criteria would ruin the regular season as it would make actual game results meaningless. You may as well rush the court to celebrate that 1 point loss to Villanova because it'll boost your KenPom ranking nearly as much as 1 point win! So who really cares that you lost? Ken Pomeroy himself said his system shouldn't be used for NCAA selection, with the exception of comparing mid-majors with few opportunities for big wins to major conference teams.

NCAA Tournament selections should be made based on results - wins and losses. Not based on scoring efficiency.

Jim Boeheim just said there's no value in having ACC tournament in North Carolina. He believes it should be held in big cities like NYC, DC, etc.

This is such an ideal situation for us... I'm sure the ACC was counting on Cuse fans to attend in droves if they progressed in the tourney. Out early...no Cuse fans sticking around. Beautiful.

If we want to keep the ACC away from NYC, having them have a less than stellar showing in Brooklyn would be fantastic. And let's all be brutally honest, Brooklyn is not Manhattan. :D

Agree, but they badly need another means of factoring in SOS than the current RPI formula. Frankly a 1-point loss to the defending national champs is a big deal for anyone outside the top 10 or so.

You guys are both right on KenPom and finding another metric.

If Cuse gets in at 18-14 and 85 RPI there are going to be 20-25ish teams with better records and better RPIs that don't get in.

This was such a great result!!......I love the fact that Syracuse is gone already....now if we can get Duke and UNC to lose early, that tournament loses all of its cache for casual NYers....

Interesting comments from Boeheim today.

1). "There's no reason to play in Greensboro,'' he said Wednesday. "The only reason they play there is because the league offices are there, it's always been there and there are like 150 people who like to have meetings. It should not be there.''

The only reason "they" play there... something tells me Jimmy has never felt part of the ACC. Not "we" but "they."

2). "The media centers, the recruiting centers are Atlanta, Washington, D.C., and New York,'' he said. "How many good players are in Greensboro? New York made the Big East.''

Ole' JB can't hide his dissatisfaction about being away from NYC, can he? Thanks for the BE shout-out too!

3). "I'm saying all of this because I don't give a s---,'' he said with a chuckle. "But this is what's right. Why do you think the Big Ten is coming to New York City? It's a good business decision. Everyone says this is all about business. Well that's a good business decision.''

Love it! And he's right. Jimmy doesn't seem to care who he pisses off south of the Mason-Dixon. The ACC folks in NC must be loving this!

Side note from article: The ACC men's basketball tournament, which will return to Brooklyn next year, is not due back in North Carolina until 2019 in Charlotte and 2020 in Greensboro.

2. Last year Fox bought half the rights to the Big Ten Network."

Not to nitpick but Fox has owned 51% of the Big Ten Network since 2010. What Fox bought last year were half of the games which ESPN previously owned which amounts to 50 current ESPN basketball games which will now air on Fox (FS1 or wherever).

And then theres this tweet:

City of Greensboro‏ @greensborocity

.@AdamZagoria @ACCSports We kindly disagree. But I guess you can lose in the 1st round anywhere. At least it's a quick ride home.
