I'd expect Xavier to play Tim Stainbrook some this game. Mack obviously doesn't want to go 2 big and I don't see Q, JP, Bernard, and Gates all going 40 minutes. Will be interesting to see how the rotation goes.

Simple really. Getting another team into the NCAA tournament is another tournament unit for the conference - done and dusted. Even if it's a first four game. Bumping Creighton up a seed line improves their odds of winning a round by, let's assume 10% - so we can consider the value of that 10% of a tournament unit. So getting the extra team in is more valuable, and that's before considering the odds of the extra team winning a game, which isn't too bad if it's a first four game.

The logic I don't see is how the result of 1 game at Seton Hall will make a difference of 4 seed lines for Creighton. In reality, this game alone means very little to Creighton's NCAA tournament standing but could be a major swing game in terms of Seton Hall's season.

just looking at RPI Wizard, their RPI goes from 17 to 22 just from this 1 game. Being a road game it means a lot more than you would think.... So 17 could easily be a 4 seed, while 22 could easily get down to a 6 or even 7 seed.

Now, looking at the just 1st round records-
4 seeds- 102-26 in 1st round .797
6 seeds- 82-46 in 1st round .641

but then look at 2nd round
4 seeds- advanced to sweet 16 59 times
6 seeds- advanced to sweet 16 42 times

and RSF
4 seeds- advanced to elite 8 20 times
6 seeds- advanced to elite 8 14 times

and RF
4 seeds- advanced to final 4 13 times
6 seeds- advanced to final 4 3 times

so 4 seeds 322 units
6 seeds 269 units

a pretty big difference there.

1 seeds 508 units

Sorry, but I don't care about SH's tourney chances. I want the Jays to completely control their new "this is who we are" before the BE and NCAA tourneys begin. Losing at the Hall won't help that.

I would be thrilled for SH to get into the dance, but not at CU's expense.

No need to apologize, you're a fan of your team first and that's how it should be. I have the same feelings, just flipped around. I don't care about the Jays tourney seed. Sure it would be nice to see them still get a high seed, but not at the Hall's expense. Heck, I'd happily see the Jays fall out of the tournament picture completely if it meant putting Seton Hall in.

When SHU isn't involved, I'll happily root for what's best for the league. But if it does affect the Pirates- everyone else be damned.
