I keep wanting to think 5 but as the season goes on I'm getting closer and closer to 4.

It looks like 5 at the moment, but I think 6 is more likely than 4. If Marquette or Georgetown can win tonight, 6 will start to look pretty good.

Maybe if Georgetown is the winner- but even there, Georgetown would still need bare minimum 3 more wins to have any shot.
For Marquette, they are favored tonight. A loss and they start to get in some trouble.

if both lose, both are in real danger. loser on Saturday would be close to out. Marquette would be 15-10 with 5 to go. Needing 3 to have any shot at all, and really needing 4. Georgetown would be 13-13 with 5 to go. Needing 4 to have any shot at all.

The other thing we can't necessarily rule out is the possibility of a bid thief from our own conference. While Villanova's the clear favorite to win the BET, would anyone be totally shocked if Marquette, Seton Hall, or Georgetown ended up on the wrong side of the bubble but then won 3 (or 4) straight for the auto bid? If the committee's truthful about their selection procedures (conference affiliation not mattering) that scenario would get the league an extra bid as long as the would be "last team in" wasn't from the Big East.

I'm not saying it's overly likely, but Marquette and Georgetown each have 2 wins off the "top 4" so far and Seton Hall has given Villanova a lot of trouble away from the Pavilion lately. It's a long way from impossible.

That's a fair point- and really they should be close enough where they wouldn't have to win it to get it. But they will have to likely play into at least the SF, if not the final, so they would need likely 2 upsets over top 25 teams to get the spot. And it's very possible that 2 of those 3 teams would have to play on Wednesday night(one of them against a good team).
