Getting to Allstate Arena

Postby Hall2012 » Tue Jan 24, 2017 9:37 am

Hey DePaul fans...I was thinking about try to go to the SHU @ DePaul game this year. So my question: Is there any good way to get from downtown Chicago to Allstate Arena via public transportation?

If you fly into O'Hare, you could just stay in Rosemont. It would save the cost of going all the way downtown and going all the way northwest to Rosemont. Nice hotels there too.

I would probably actually take Amtrak into Union Station and spend the weekend in Chicago.

And yeah Edrick, I looked at CTA but unless I'm missing something it doesn't seem like a great option. A solid 50ish minute subway ride that still drops you about a 20 minute bus ride from the arena. Doesn't sound particularly efficient.

Assuming that you are staying in downtown Chicago, you can take the Blue Line subway towards O'Hare and get off at the Rosemont station. Outside of the Rosemont station, you can take the #222 bus (Allstate Express) directly to the stadium. The subway ride from downtown to Rosemont is about 45 minutes and the bus trip is about 10 minutes. The bus service starts from the Rosemont station one hour before game time and buses leave Allstate 20 minutes after the game to take you back to the Rosemont station. The one way cost for the subway ride is $2.25 and the one way cost for the bus is $1.75. There may be a cost to purchase a transit card (transit debit card), which can hold prepaid dollars, so that you don't have to worry about boarding each vehicle with exact change. While not glamorous, public transit in Chicago can help avoid the aggravation of traffic and is economical in comparison to arena parking costs.

Yea, your best bet is to stay in Rosemont, attend the game, then go in to Chicago. There are a few hotels within walking distance to the Arena.
That or get on the Blue line to O'hare then get a cab or uber to Allstate.

I'm starting to think my best bet is to scrap the trip this year and wait till SHU plays a weekend game at DePaul's new arena lol.

Maybe I've just gotten lucky in the past, but I've never heard of a stadium/arena that doesn't have a train stop within walking distance. I'm not surprised DePaul struggles for attendance. In addition to the team not playing well, it seems like a royal PITA to get there.

No. That's why no one goes to DePaul games.

Don't? That's usually your best bet. I used to work in Rosemont and the arena was still a pain to get to.

If you absolutely want to go then just Uber it's not worth the hassle of being on the nasty Blue line.
