Another year, another dreadful attendance showing for the American Conference Tournament. You'd think that UConn fans would at least show up for their own team's games (since it's in Hartford). Definitely not the case. Anyone arguing that UConn is not being negatively affected by playing in the American is fooling themselves. If they were in the Big East, their conference tournament attendance goes up substantially. There are fewer than 1,000 people in the building...

Dayton has cut the lead now. I'm indifferent toward them but a while back (I think on this board) I questioned why Dayton was an assumed lock for the tourney. Is Vandy their best win?

Davidson wins. Someone explain to me why Dayton should make the NCAA tournament without referencing computer numbers.

in a lot of ways, it's a bad result for the Big east with Dayton losing. The teams most likely to move up would move up into that 9 line now are from the Big East.

Dayton has an absolutely terrible resume. Back-to-back losses to GW and Davidson – both around 100 RPI. Their big win was at home against VCU. The only top 100 nonconference wins are East Tennessee State and Vanderbilt. But they have losses to sub 100 teams Nebraska and umass. I think Dayton is out.

They know how to schedule. And people are really impressed with gaudy record against meh competition, vs. those evil "middling" P5 schools people complain about all the time. They are a name brand now like Wichita, VCU, and Gonzaga. I guess it's human instinct to be partial to the familiar.

I'll say this, there are too many damn D1 schools.

Frankly, VCU has an even worse resume. Their best when is Dayton. Other than that only Princeton and middle Tennessee State resonate as even borderline meaningful wins. But they have a loss at Fordham RPI 215. Neither of these teams should be in the NCAA tournament.

It's like they trade wins, what's SMC's best win? You've guessed it... lol

VCU- 10-5 vs RPI top 100
Dayton 12-5 vs RPI top 100

compare to Illinois St- who is only 2-4 vs RPI top 100

Both VCU and Dayton will easily make the tourney.

Nothing wrong with the 9-line.
