I wouldn't be so sure. If Clemson beats Duke tomorrow, they have a real shot. Last time at Duke Duke won 64-62. So wouldn't be the shocker at all.

Clemson probably has to beat Louisville as well, just to stay in contention. They're not winning both games against superior and better rested teams.

If I was a bubble team, I'd love to draw St. Mary's outside the west bracket in the 1st round, and Baylor in the 2nd round.

Yesterday's win was to stay in contention. If they win today then lose tomorrow, they'll be worst case 18-15, with a 50ish RPI, and a 5-12 record vs top 50 and a 9-13 record vs top 100. Also 7-10 road/neutral which isn't bad. Probably a top 20 SOS as well. Depending on what happens elsewhere, that may be good enough.

I thought this quote was pretty interesting from yesterday-
Greg Shaheen on @dandakich: There are 36 at-large spots & only about 2 dozen teams have done enough to make a strong case.

In a normal year, a team like Clemson would have ZERO chance of making it.

I think this year the conference tourneys may be bigger in that teams that are on the fringe that make a run could find themselves easier making the tourney.

50ish? RPI Forecast says 61. Even if they beat Louisville, that only gets them to 55.

I would have thought given they are 63 right now in the RPI that a win over Duke they would have gotten higher. But still 61 RPI with #19 SOS, that may very well be good enough.

15 losses was the too many to get a bid when we were discussing Georgetown 2 weeks ago. Now Clemson gets in with 15...?

That's pretty much the nub of it. None of us knows what the committee is thinking. Not Lunardi. Not anyone outside that room.

I thought Georgetown if they got to 18-15 would be in. 17-15 and losing in 1st round- probably would have been out at that point.

I think the one thing- this year is a very strange bubble. Very different from normal.
