Only Stever can turn a thread about the BE vs. the ACC, SEC, PAC-12, B1G, & Big XII into a thread bout how many bids the AAC will get.

I agree. Last I heard, the AAAAAAAAAAAAAAACCC was not one of the Power 5 conferences. Let's keep this thread on track. And if stever wants his own thread on the AAAAAAAAAAAACCC, he can create one, one that likely will only be read by stever.

Big East fans are so amusing.....

using the AAC and A10 and WCC(the 9 multi-bid conferences)- actually HELPS the Big East out- as the Big East has done better vs them than ANY ONE else..... But folks for whatever reason don't want to hear that logic. I'd rather be #1 in a larger group than #2 in a smaller group.

remember from Sunday- these are vs the 9 multi bid conferences
Big East 30-18 .625 48 games/10 teams 4.8 games per team
Big 12 23-14 .622 37 games/10 teams 3.7 games per team
ACC 33-24 .579 57 games/15 teams 3.8 games per team
Big Ten 33-32 .508 65 games/14 teams 4.6 games per team
Pac 12 21-22 .488 43 games/12 teams 3.6 games per team
SEC 21-23 .477 44 games/14 teams 3.1 games per team
AAC 17-23 .425 40 games/11 teams 3.4 games per team
WCC 8-12 .400 20 games/10 teams 2.0 games per team
A10 15-33 .313 48 games/14 teams 3.4 games per team

Big East was 10-2 vs AAC/WCC/A10. Big 12 was 5-4. That matters. The reason why the Big East is #1 right now isn't the performances vs P5 conferences. It's the performances vs the AAC and A10 quite frankly. Big East has dominated those 2 conferences much moreso than any of the other conferences.... just look
Big East 10-2
ACC 10-5
Big 12 5-3(plus 0-1 vs WCC)
Big 10 7-3
SEC 10-4(plus 1-1 vs WCC)
Pac 12 3-2(plus 8-4 vs WCC)

That could be marginally true with the Big 12, as we are 0-2 vs them but fared way better than them against the 7-10 conferences. Personally I think what would be cool is do a TRUE conference challenge with the BXII that includes all ten teams from both conferences top to bottom. Nova would play KU all the way down to St. John's and DePaul vs ... .... aaaa ..... nevermind, bad idea. :D

Being #1 of that group rather than #2 of the F5 group is all well and good. That's clearly great for the BE. No argument there. But SOME of us like to compare how we are against those 5 conferences. And that's what this thread is for. You've made it very clear that it's not important to you. Which, again, is all well and good. Some things are more important for some than for others. That's what makes the world goes round. But to SOME of us it matters. With you, everything is way too black and white. For you it's always, "Because X, it has to be Y." No, that's not how everything works. Start a new thread comparing us to those conferences if it matters to you. But just because you can't comprehend why SOME of us like to keep track of this blows my mind. You know just because you type something doesn't make it gospel, correct?

He's not interested...and it's an insane thread...but he is still following it, reading it, posting on it. Seems to be a bit more interested than he says, no?

Stever has a point. Midmajor Madness includes both the Big East and the American in its list of major conferences. Bleacher Report and College Insider (CBS) go a step further to include the Atlantic Ten as well. NBC and ESPN go even further to add the Mountain West, Gonzaga, and BYU (NBC only).

The point is that every sports site that looks at this topic includes both the Big East and the American in its list of major basketball conferences. Personally I favor any POV that undermines the claims of the Football 5 as being the standard by which all others should be measured.
