GTMO, glad we agree on this one. Regrettably this was the appeal. Only recourse is lawsuit which I don't see Nova or Jay doing. It is total bullsh--. As you said, it would NOT happen to UNC, Syracuse or Duke or Kansas or_____________ (insert P5 school). We could go on and on about how the NCAA is afraid of the P5 and that they get no football revenue, the treat of defection, etc. However, the double standard is ridiculous and the fact that the kid gets penalized for finishing too late by delaying his playing time later on a rule that wasn't in effect when he started high school is flat out wrong. He graduated, he did well on SATs and met the standards. I get there is a rule, but WHY is this a rule when apparently you can attend, play and not even go to class (bogus classes at that) and the school is not impacted???
It is too bad for Omari, who by accounts is a good kid. He will probably play next year and do well (would imagine he will be one and one at that point, so chemistry beyond is impacted). What is unfortunate from a team perspective this year is he won't get to play with Hart and Jenkins. I believed they had a legitimate shot at repeating, now, Nova will be very good but repeating took a hit and not sure what the ceiling is now.
Going forward, the wildcard in this is Painter. He is going to get serious minutes at the 5 with Reynolds and a small ball lineup with Paschall. Onward and upward..... last bitch session from me on it.
