Saw this posted elsewhere and thought it was worth it's own thread. Love every word of it.
"I'm going to get in trouble for this, but I don't care," Willard said. "You know, everyone always asks questions about, is this tournament in trouble? The home, the ACC and the Big Ten. They want to come in to New York. The Big East is -- this is the home. We are the home. We will always be the home. They are going to be tourists. I've said it before. They're going to come in. They're going to get a slice of pizza. Hopefully a bacon, egg and cheese, and a coffee, and then they're going to leave. But at the end of the day, the Big East will still be here."
"I think this whole tournament, especially the last two nights; last night sold-out Garden, four great basketball programs," Wright said. "Just a great Garden crowd for the final. Great tough physical game. This is what Big East basketball is, you know? And if you're a basketball purist, there's nowhere you would rather coach or play than in this conference or you would rather play your tournament than in Madison Square Garden. You just saw tonight that's what it is. If you're a basketball person, there's no conference that matches it anywhere. I'm not saying we're the best. For just basketball, everything we do is basketball. We play in the Mecca. Madison Square Garden. Great traditional basketball schools. All the alumni from these schools this is what they live for. No football weekends. No homecoming football games. This is what they live for. This was awesome."

I would hope every Big East coach says basically the same thing to every guy they're recruiting.
"We don't give a damn about football. Come to [insert Big East school here], and you're the number one athletes on campus."

Great showcase for the League last night...packed house....great game...superb individual star performances...and Gus on the call. The Requiem for the Big East that was hoped for by ESPN has now disappeared and this loop is strong and getting better. I love what Willard said and love the fact that everyone in this league has a bit of a chip on their shoulder.
Finally, the like minded philosophies of the schools and fan bases make it even more special. I'm a Xavier honk and have been to all the venues and been treated very well and respectfully...unlike some of the low class places elsewhere. I enthusiastically cheer for every Big East school, except, of course, when they play X.
Congrats to Seton Hall and great game Nova. Let's get 5 teams in this Dance and make big noise. #GoBigEast

First off, congrats to Seton Hall on their championship. The way I see it, the BE should have 5 teams in the Tournament following this weekend. Now, we've got to make some noise, and justify the bids, lest the pundits will dump on the conference.
That aside, I love what Coach Willard said. Jay Wright and Ed Cooley both shared similar comments in the post game remarks during the weekend. From the perspective of this fan, their remarks are so true.

Watching ESPN at half and the 4 announcers spent 5-10 minutes on the top two seeds. The only two teams they did not mention of the eight teams and their chances were- Vill and Xavier. It is amazing how blatant they are in ignoring any mention of the Big East or its teams.

I guess we will see if he stays if the big boys come calling....He was probably getting canned this year if they didn't make the tourney...

This is not a Conspiracy
Theory, this is Conspiracy
FACT.
Only way to get through this is bust the F-ing door down, put 2 in the Final Four( or at least one) and FORCE them to talk about you.
