Johnnies Fans, Is LoVett Leaving?

I am not looking to start any rumors but there seems to be some speculation that LoVett might not be at St. John's next year. I have no idea what the circumstances are but can somebody fill us in?

I am really looking for SJU to make the jump and I thought adding Ponds and LoVett to the back court would help tremendously. I am hoping he sticks around.

Based on Redmen.com it looks like he's leaving. No idea why.

Not looking to start any rumors while starting a rumor? Good job!

Redmen.com isn't the best authority. Cranky old men. Once the SJU beat writer Zach Braziller mentions it then it has legs. Anytime before that it's just BS rumors.

I have a source that says everyone jumped the gun...he asked coaches and they said it's not true. But whenever there are bad rumors, they turn out to be true with our program, so we will see.

Seems like every hour he is then he isn't. Keeps going back and forth. Either way sick of it, I only want kids here who want to be here and are ready to ride or die for this program.

This started when Ron Mvouika posted a photo of the team at a bowling alley with the caption "regardless on how it goes down, you always gonna see us unified. Don't ever doubt a Johnnie". Everyone was in the picture except for LoVett. Then LoVett had a tweet saying "I'm just gonna sip my tea and watch this happen" So then some speculation started about what exactly was going on. LoVett didn't quash the rumors. His next tweet said something like "I like California, I like New York, I like Chicago, but I love Indiana" Personally I think if a guy is committed to a team he doesn't let speculation go on like this, he puts an end to it. There are some posters on other St. John's forums that seem pretty wired, and you can tell they don't seem certain about what's going on either. My guess is, LoVett knows he has other options and is considering them. Whether he leaves or not, who knows? But it's not helpful at a time when Mullin is trying to lure high quality recruits into the program. If LoVett is truly committed to the team, he should put an end to the speculation soon. Like today.

Redmen.com is not that bad. It has mellowed out over the years and there is actually usually good discussion on there.

Anyways, on Lovett, no one knows why the rumor started. The rumor was floating around before the bowling photo mentioned in this thread, so it didn't stem for that. Durand Johnson isn't in the photo either, so I wouldn't take it too seriously.

I think he will be here next year. If not, well, Shamorie Ponds scored 51 in a high school game last night

I can definitely see his logic. ponds and lovett seem very similar type players. quick scoring guards who need the ball in their hands. they already have mussini/ellison who I assume will play major min at SG and backup pg. you also have ahmed coming in.

If he posted that it wasn't on twitter last night and the SJU beat writer has said everyone is jumping the gun.

um, if someone is saying everyone is jumping the gun, it seems to me that something is happening, just hasn't happened yet.
