Preseason All Big East

Postby milksteak » Tue Oct 13, 2015 7:22 am

Don't believe this has been posted, but College Sports Madness did their All Big East teams a few days ago:

1st Team:
G D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera
G Kris Dunn*
G/F Kellen Dunham
F Roosevelt Jones
F/C Daniel Ochefu

2nd Team:
G Ryan Arcidiacono
G Billy Garrett
G Isaiah Whitehead
F Angel Delgado
F/C Jalen Reynolds

3rd Team:
G Josh Hart
G Duane Wilson
G/F Myles Davis
F Henry Ellenson#
F/C L.J. Peak

4th Team:
G Maurice Watson
G Trevon Bluiett
G/F Myke Henry
F Ben Bentil
F/C Luke Fischer

*Player of the Year
#Newcomer of the Year
Coach of the Year: Cold, but not freezing, Jay Wright

http://www.collegesportsmadness.com/article/11997

List is pretty close, but I disagree with some of the selections.
1. Bluiett should probably at least be on the third team. Flip him with Myles Davis.
2. Billy Garrett should not be that high. Flip him with Hart.
3. Where's Isaac Copeland? Use him to replace Bentil.
4. Flip Fischer and Peak
5. I feel like I should say Arcidiacono should be on the first team even though I don't believe it. I guess switch him and Dunham.

Here's another one. Also has final standings picks: http://www.app.com/story/sports/college/2015/10/13/jerry-carinos-big-east-big-ten-hoops-forecast/73854426/

Even though I feel Ryan Arcidiacono shouldn't have been POY last year, his backcourt mate was even better. Not including him on the 1st team is laughable even if I believe he isn't worthy.

F/C LJ PeaK??? WTF
Daniel Ochefu on the 1st team is also laughable.

Shouldn't the All BEast preseason teams be released soon?

The list is generally leaked before BE Media day which is tomorrow.

In what way is having Ochefu on the list "laughable?

I posted this before...I used stats per 40 mins so we weren't comparing apples to oranges. I gave the top player in each category 6 pts, 2nd person got 5, 3=4, down to 6 = 1. So he is the top returning post player in pts per 40, rebs per 40, assts per 40, and FG% per 40 and is 2nd in Blocks. Yeah, he sucks.

PLAYER.........Pts / 40.......Reb / 40 ...........Asst / 40........Blocks / 40.........FG %............PTS.
Ochefu...........15.3.............14.2..................2.5............ 2.3...............0.644.............25
Smith.............21.1.............11.3..................2.3............ 1.4 ..............0.621.............21
Stainbrook.......18.4.............10.3..................3.6.............0.9...............0.613.............18
Delgado..........13.2.............13.9..................1.3.............1.6...............0.555.............14
Fisher............15.0.............. 6.6..................1.2.............3.0...............0.609.............13
DeRosiers........10.7..............7.0...................1.3.............4.0...............0.449.............12

So what's "laughable" about the best returning big man, from the best returning team, being voted onto the first team again?

Don't you know Gumby? It's "laughable", because first team BE isn't DSR, Peak, Copeland, White, and maybe Govan. Don't go disrespecting the Hoyas now.

Unfortunately, wrong again.

Only Hoya that should be included on any list unless proven otherwise this year, is DSR. Just calling like it is. Sorry I disappointed you.

Fortunately not as wrong as often as you though, Ochefu is 1st team preseason lock, sorry to disappoint you.

BTW. Whoosh ... sarcasm, that's what the italics was for.
