Current Vegas Odds to Win 2016 NCAA Championship

Postby milksteak » Tue Sep 01, 2015 10:53 am

Villanova 30:1
Butler 70:1
Georgetown 80:1
Marquette 125:1
Providence 150:1
Xavier 250:1
St. John's 300:1
Seton Hall 500:1
Creighton 500:1

Duke is favored at 5:1

Might be a good idea to put some money on Xavier before the season starts. I don't understand why they aren't getting respect nationally.

Not all schools get listed there is a "field" option where you get every team not listed above. That's at 65/1

I did put some money on Xavier but that's mostly because I'm a homer.

Really only take issue with a couple of things, and one of them as you pointed out is how low Xavier is. Not that I think they're going to win a national title next season, but I would give them similar odds that I'd give Georgetown with the talent they have returning. Also think Butler and Marquette are probably a little too high on this list. I think Butler should have a solid team and Marquette is going to be really good, I just don't think it'll be this year.

I think the reason MU is higher is because of ellanson. Vegas would view it more likely a freshman of that caliber could carry a team in the NCAA tournament than a team that's probably gonna be better regular season but has a lower ceiling. They're essentially covering themselves from a Kemba walker type situation. Odds don't reflect on regular season performance.

here are the Las Vegas futures odds. Not sure the Houston source but Vegas Insider is a rock solid odds source.
