I think the WVU one is pretty interesting. I think it's spot on quite frankly. If you look at the teams in the P5 now that moved- there are 12- WVU to me by a pretty wide margin improved their lot the least.

The one that is really dependent on how you look at things is BYU.

There is no doubt that UC and UConn are 1 and 2 as being the biggest losers in realignment. UC in basketball (despite making the dance the last few years) but with a very strong football program and UConn in football with a very strong basketball program. UConn was a bit off last year but should be back in round ball this year.

To some extent I see this continuing for at least a few years and perhaps more.

From a UConn/Cincinnati perspective, obviously they would much rather be in the ACC (or any P5 conference), but I would have to imagine the biggest regret is the original Big East schools rejecting ESPN's contract offer that would have paid each football member $13 million per year. Had the schools accepted, the Old Big East could have looked like:

Full Members
Syracuse
Pittsburgh
Louisville
West Virginia
Cincinnati
Connecticut
Rutgers
USF
TCU
Memphis/Houston/SMU/UCF

Basketball-Only
Villanova
Georgetown
St. Johns
Marquette
Seton Hall
Providence
DePaul

That would have made for a really strong conference in both basketball and football. The Presidents however voted unanimously to reject the contract offer after details of the PAC-12 TV contract came out. While the gamble failed for some (UC/UConn), it is interesting think what would have happened if they stayed the course and accepted.

Believe me, that was more of a dig at myself.

I was absolutely just kidding.

I am glad you posted the entire article, though. Great perspective. It seems clear that the proverbial ball is back in Texas's court and, by extension, the Big 12's court. If they don't make a move from here, and they certainly don't seem to be in a big hurry to make a move from here, it would seem that the music has stopped for a while. That would be a pretty brutal outcome for UCONN, UC and BYU, in particular.

It also makes for a brutal outcome for any non-football school wanting to join the Big East.

Isn't the rumor that BYU doesn't want in the B12?
