Bobble Head Giveaways

Postby NJRedman » Tue Jun 02, 2015 10:22 am

Since our friend mentioned the Crying Villanova Girl trying to kickstart a bobble head, it got me thinking. Does your school give away bobble heads during the basketball season? If not would you like them to? Who have they given away so far and who would you like to see from your schools past honored in bobble head form?

St. John's started it's bobble head giveaway with Steve Lavin. Then we gave away Lou Carnesecca, Chris Mullin and last year was Malik Sealy. We give one away each season now. I think Mark Jackson will be the next one for us. The ones i'd like to see soon are Ron Artest, Felipe Lopez, Marcus Hatten, D'Angelo Harrison and Anthony Glover.

What are some of the other things your school gives away?

Xavier has given away numerous bobbleheads over the years. Last season, Sister RoseAnn Fleming (the nun who has been responsible for Xavier's 100% graduation rate for seniors in the men's basketball program) and Pete Gillen (former head coach who went to Providence and then on to UVa) were both "honored" with their own bobbleheads. In past years, players such as David West and James Posey, and even the BlueBlob mascot (twice) have gotten bobbleheads. Typically bobbleheads are given away to the first 3-5K fans showing up for the game that day.

Xavier has also gotten creative on occasion. One year, they gave away a Romaine Sato nesting doll set (very cool). In another, they gave away BlueBlob and D'Artagnan salt and pepper shakers. They also gave away a D'Artagnan "bank" one year. All good fun.
Xavier will surprise. Never count them out of the Dance.

You guys have some great ideas for giveaways. Would love to get some SJU styled stuff like that. A Louie and Mullin salt and pepper shaker set would be awesome! haha

Creighton has done bobbleheads for Kyle Korver and Doug Mcdermott. They only made 3000 of the Mcdermott bobbleheads and they still go for about 100 bucks on ebay. Id love for them to honor past greats with bobbleheads like Bob Gibson and Paul Silas...

The salt shakers were actually this past year too.

Brian Hicks and the Marketing Department have really stepped up their game recently.
