@EvanDaniels: A source tells Scout that Barry "Slice" Rohrssen is finalizing a deal to become an assistant at St. John's to work for Chris Mullin.

Ace recruiter for Kentucky will be joining Chris Mullin. This is a huge get. Way to go Johnnies!

I think a lot of people underestimate how big this will be for St John's. There will be a huge influx of talent coming into Queens in the future with both Slice and Matt Abdelmassih on the staff

There were rumors everywhere saying he'd likely come, but many of us got nervous as each day passed. Thank god it's final now. I think what this says is that we are "all in". SJU has given Mullin every resource possible to be successful. To get Matt A and Slice, these are two A+ top of the top recruiters here. It means that a few more major NYC area recruits will now stay home vs. when Lavin was here.

Someone tweeted that Mullin was in a gym recruiting a kid all day. I can't say for certain but based on what I've heard, Lavin was the opposite of that. He was more of a diva. Let the other guys do the dirty work recruiting, take a year off and focus on another year instead, etc. This killed him in the end. With Mullin here there is already a clear plan to balance the classes (Lavin never did that). There is already obvious strong work ethic (Lavin did not have it…remember he's an LA guy). There is already a major recruiting effort (Lavin was said to be a dud with NYC area coaches for never showing up).

It just seems that we are in good hands. All signs point to the program not only staying relevant but having more consistency and more postseason wins. And that's all I could ask for. My gut check tells me to be excited. The recent history of SJ tells me to temper expectations, but if this all ends up as a huge failure I'd be shocked.
