White knuckle action in 3rd period...!!!
Woo hoo...!!!

4-3 Friar win...!!!
PC tied it at 3-3 with 8 minutes left on an insane play.
Gorgeous go-ahead goal under 7 minutes by Brandan Tanev...!

This championship belongs to all 10 schools in the Big East too...!

Congrats PC! I switched the channel during the 3rd when they were down 3-2. Switched back later right after they won, couldn't believe it. Gotta feel for that Boston Goalie, wth was he thinking.

Link to video of Goalie scoring on himself.

Congrats, Friars!

For what it's worth, Providence is the only hockey school in the Big East, but all of the other 9 schools have club teams

Butler
Creighton
DePaul
Georgetown
Marquette
St. John's
Seton Hall
Villanova
Xavier

Maybe instead of adding third-tier schools, we should be adding sports? At the risk of starting a discussion better served for another thread, hockey is a sport with relatively little in the way of regional competitors to Big East schools, particularly the Midwestern schools. There are only FIVE Division I Hockey programs in the eight states of Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky (Nebraska-Omaha, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Miami, and Bowling Green). Similarly, there are no D1 Hockey teams in DC, Philly, or within 50 miles of New York City (Princeton is the closest).

Villanova should drop football so they can better fund soccer and start a hockey team. They are planning a renovation of their on campus arena, they could put ice under the hoops court like nba/nhl arenas.

That was an awesome game for providence.

Although this is a Hockey East title, not a big east title. UConn and Boston College have more of a claim to it than us big east schools. But providence is a big east team otherwise and I was pumped for them. Their fans love their hockey team.
