did you notice in the article from the Post they mentioned the A10 has mandated stipends for men's and women's basketball? Had we heard of that for sure yet?

I seriously doubt Big East will need to police it like the A10 but the lawyers will probably recommend putting the clause in affiliation requirements to cover future situations.

UCONN AD Manuel has announced the FCOA that they will be paying beginning in August.

It is $3200 for out of state students and $2500 for in state student-athletes.

Compare this to the amounts that ECU, Memphis and Houston are paying (over $5000) in the AAC and UConn is at a disadvantage.

Clearly if schools like Uconn thought they'd be at a disadvantage by paying this lesser amount then they wouldn't do it. Clearly they believe like I do that playing for Uconn rather than ECU or the others is worth more than $2,000 and I think they're right.

Is it me, or is it remarkable how wild wild west the FCOA is turning out to be?

Surprising no one, #Bama has now doubled its cost of attendance figures to surpass Auburn: http://financialaid.ua.edu/cost/

And the FCOA war commences. Alabama could not let Auburn win the war of FCOA especially in their home state. I would not expect this to be the last such escalation.

stever's right. Welcome to the new wild west.

Remember Alabama and Auburn are SEC schools which receive about 34 MM each from TV, their private network, the CFP system and other sources plus Alabama gets about 8MM from marketing products with their school logo's etc. on them. There is almost no limit to what they can spend. Thank God for us football is the most important sport to them not basketball. However basketball players and all other scholarship athletes will receive the same amount as football players.

Wow, I didn't know you could change your number in the same year. I wonder what their justification will be for their initial "miscalculation."
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
