your way too early big east rankings?

1. Nova - still have a ton of talent that knows how to play together
2. Xavier - jalen reynolds should challenge Kris dunn for player of the year
3. Butler - losing barlow, but should be able to replace him with the kid from Nc state. Lots of good players remain
4. Seton hall - I am not giving up on Kevin willard yet. Maybe I'm a fool, but I think he has the talent and they will grow from this year
5. Providence - Kris Dunn, Ben Bentil, there is some potential in this lineup
6. Georgetown - tons of talent, but losing some key players
7. DePaul - my darkhorse to make a run at the dance. They need to get it done out of conference this year though
8. Marquette - still a year away in my opinion. Looking forward to see Ellison, but not sure if he has the supporting cast, yet
9. Creighton - still rebuilding
10. Johnnies - too many questions. If they keep obekpa, the prince of north philly, and add Diallo then they can slip up to middle of the pack. Still have no depth even with those guys

Really tough to sort this out. Not a dog in the bunch. Each team can enter the season realistically thinking about dancing. The teams really need to perform in November and December to set the league up rpi-wise to justify 6, or even a 7th, bid. It can be done.

Again, not sure about the top end talent. Nova will start the season top 10, but I think they finish more like 10-20. Might be one of those years where we send 6 or 7 teams, but as a bunch of teams seeding 3-9 with a couple last in/out bubble candidates.

If Gibbs returns, I see the Pirates no worse than 5th but no better than 3rd. Nova , Xavier, Georgetown, butler, ???

I think next year could be a down year...

my thoughts-
1 Xavier
2 Nova
3 Butler
4 Georgetown
5 Seton Hall
6 DePaul
7 Marquette
8 Providence(don't think Dunn stays)
9 St John's
10 Creighton

I think how young and inexperienced we will be leads to a lot of OOC/exempt tournament games that determine a lot- Georgetown, Providence, Marquette, St John's, and Creighton in that boat. That impacts considerably our upper limits on tourney bids. All of these have tough exempt tournaments(along with Seton Hall)- and at least 4/6 of these will be in the Gavitt games.

I think we're going to be a very young conference next year. By end of season we may be really good- but the records may not indicate just how good.

NBC has 5 in it's early poll: Villanova, X, G'twn, Marquette, & Butler.
Sounds good -

Yep, a lot of new pieces, parts, youth - should be fun and exciting.

My take:

1) Creighton
2) Xavier
3) Villanova
4) Georgetown
5) Marquette
6) Butler
7) St Johns
8) Providence
9) Seton Hall
10) DePaul

Absolutely no way Creighton is going to be at the bottom. We lost 7 or 8 games in conference last year in the last possession. We finished the year much improved ( see Villanova and Georgetown losses late). Coach Mac did a fantastic job of keeping that team together. We lost some good seniors, but realistically we had our two best players sitting out as transfers. We have a good recruiting class coming in and the key is if we add another 1 or 2 quality jucos or transfer we will be much improved. This list could be a little more realistic once we know where all the juco and transfers are for all the teams. If we had one go to guy last year, Creighton would have been the middle of the pack. We will have more than one go to guy I expect next year.

Everyone will have to adjust their rankings now that DSR is back.

Apparently everyone is returning as even Dunn is apparently thinking about returning as are Obekpa and Jordan.

It was looking like the BE would take a step back next year, but this may no longer be the case.
