Coach K said only parents involved in recruiting with freshmen. No others, including AAU coaches. "Kind of old fashioned," he said.

Coach K has accepted the One-and-Done formula. Ok, fine, nothing wrong with it.
But apparently he also wants to continue with his persona of a old-skool guy doing things the right way.
He can't have both ways.

Why not? Where does having the AAU coach or HS involved in recruiting tie into "one and done"?

He IS in the finals tonight. Seems like his way is working okay to me.

Btw, anyone surprised to see Calipari elected to hall of fame? Are the voters aware of the vacated wins and final fours? Seems like people have memory loss...

Calipari was never even implicated in either of those two circumstances... I am not saying he is definitely clean, but trying to tie him to Camby taking money from and Agent or Rose cheating on his SATs is not reasonable. When you are recruiting the top talent, there are going to be a lot of sharks circling and you can't always keep every player away from every shark.

He's doing great with his formula, and there's nothing wrong with it, it's within the rules.
But from that quote anyway he's trying to sell it as a Mom-and-Pop old-fashioned folksy formula.
And he's full of shit.

He has made the conscious decision to turn Duke University into another "One and Done" factory, to keep up with Kentucky.
But because he doesn't have the stones to be honest with everyone, he wants us to accept his charade of "doing things the right way".
Not that he should have, but he could have taken a principled stand and not followed the "One and Done" formula in the first place.

The guy wants his cake and eat it too.

OK, it sounds like you have been involved with his recruiting and know some things about his recruiting that I don't. Will you share the examples that you witnessed? It will change my mind.

True, BUT . . .

Let's use Memphis as an example. Calipari got to the championship game with a star player who was ineligible. Unfortunately no one found out that he was ineligible until after the season was over. Think of all the other coaches who recruited great players but couldn't use them because they were known non-qualifiers who were banned from playing before the season started.

Does Calipari get to use the 2008 Memphis team as part of his body of work? He shouldn't be able to. Same with UMass regardless of who was identified as the corrupting influence.

Did all of this really happen without Calipari's knowledge as he claims? I have a hard time believing that. The Eose SAT situation has a Chicago kid (Rose) taking the SAT that qualified him in Detroit! That had the fingerprints of World Wide Wes all over it. And he's a known Calipari associate. The UMass situation smelled just as bad.

Shouldn't Calipari get in based on his UK accomplishments alone? No. It's just 6 years. But even more important is that he would never have gotten the UK job without the accomplishments at UMass and Memohis in the first place. fruit of the poisonous tree. We've for to throw the whole thing out.

Baseball players are barred from their Hall of Fame for suspected PEDS use with far less actual evidence against them than what we have in Calipari.

Okay... So let me get this straight, your sense of smell and your connect the dots speculation is actual evidence? Pretty sure that shit wouldn't make it a past rule 401 challenge. All you have is your gut feeling, which has exactly zero evidentiary value. Oh and if you really want to use the MLB as your example of the right way to investigate and punish, you might want to rethink your closing argument... And your legal career.
