I'm kind of embarrassed that St. John's fans are talking about Rich Pitino like it is even remotely possible. C'mon, now!

Already reported that Rich Pitino not interested. The two confirmed that are actually interested are Danny Hurley and Maisiello. No confirmation that Mullin is interested. He might be but nothing has come across that confirms that he's interested in job. Just rumors.

Btw don't listen to other fanbases about this. No one has ear to ground more than Johnnies fans.

Huh why do you assume this? JT3 for instance took over a team that had missed the post season for the first time in 30 years and just missed the NCAAs in his first year (played in the NIT) and has consistently made the tournament since then. With the right hire there doesn't have to be a set back at all.

I hope they hire Danny Hurley. Mullin should learn how to coach at a lower level. SJU needs a guy who can recruit.

I think the set back is going to be that they were going to lose 4 of their 6 top players, and the other 2 are very questionable if they return or not regardless of Lavin coming back or not. Next year was going to be an ugly year no matter what.

Adam Zagoria reporting that Danny Hurley is no longer interested in the SJU job and will sign an extension at Rhode Island in the next couple days.

And ESPN reporting Dan Hurley's extension at URI is a done deal. Now as we all know, extensions mean pretty much nothing, but Hurley choosing to stay doesn't really surprise me. He has a likely NCAA Tournament team and an A10 Championship favorite for next year at URI- compared to a St. John's team that's having its roster gutted. He'll have a lot more bargaining power next year after taking the Rams to the dance (and possibly A10 title and a tourney win or 2) than he has this year after just an NIT appearance.

But the St. John's job won't be open next year, which suggests that it isn't his dream job. :?

The Hurleys have no relationship with St. John's. Only deluded Johnnies fans think it is his dream job.

But it's NY. It's The Big East. It's Broadway. It's Union Turnpike. ;)
