I read it on Redmen.com. Will Lavin be next or are they getting rid of the AD to make Lavin happy ?

Can SJU get rid of DePaul's AD as well?

He won't be fired. It was just something fans were saying SHOULD happen.
SJU has zero balls when it comes to cutting the fat. If we were a serious program focused on becoming a perennial top 25 program again, we would have fired Lavin and Monasch. But instead we are keeping both. We have learned to settle for mediocrity while other teams take risks to become great.

Well, that is a remarkable waste of potential.
How can your President not see the value of investing in the program the right way by just looking around at his conference mates - new and old?

I follow Jon Rothstein on Twitter and he tweeted his article this morning and he wrote a little paragraph about SJU's adiminstration and why the fact that it's taking this long to decide to extend or fire Lavin is a very bad look on the school. Can't help but agree with him.

Interesting in his story:
There were several reports on Wednesday that Lavin was in talks with the school for a multiyear extension, but sources told CBSSports.com that those reports may be premature.

Maybe this is a "the grass is always greener" type of reaction. But I would be very disappointed if Lavin got an extension when there seems to be a great pool of available coaches.

I'm a big Johnnies fan, but am on the fence concerning Lavin. I'm not sure what's best. But who are the great pool of available coaches you're referring to? Danny Hurley may one day be a great coach, but as of right now he's never even taken a team to the NIT. Archie Miller re-upped with dayton today. I'm still not convinced with Masiello. Unless Shaka is finally ready to make a move, I don't see anyone out there that's a clear upgrade over Lavin. I hate to say it, but the best thing might be to just stand pat with him

I think if the contract situation wasn't where it is, I would agree with you 100%. But the fact is they have to make a decision right now. Do you commit more to Lavin, or make a clean break and move on with a new voice? Tough decision there. The thing that is worse is that St John's is being seen as dragging it out, which is a problem whichever direction they want to go with.

This is more to honor his last year of his initial contract. Probably 1 guaranteed year and the remaining years are not guaranteed but just a pitch for recruits. A recruit will not commit knowing the coach only has 1 year left. It would also be bad to do it now because they will have a late start in the interview process with all the other openings available already.
