Purnell has finally resigned after going 54-105 in his five seasons.

“Even though I’m not playing I still don’t want my school to be disrespected, because I play for the name on the front of my chest, not the name on my back. I’m a part of this family now, and when they disrespected them they disrespected me”-Mo Watson Jr.

Look for a couple big time names coming towards this job.

If DePaul can get this right, we will truly have a strong conference top to bottom.

I have no doubt Purnell is a wonderful guy, but this had to happen. Best of luck to DePaul, would love to see our Chicago member turn it around!

and various tweets

The last time DePaul opened, there was some speculation that Ben Howland might have some interest. Look for him to try and get in mix.

DePaul announces Oliver Purnell has resigned. The question that always comes up: How good a job is this?

Personally think DePaul needs to get a young guy who is willing to work to get players. Last two hires were 57-58 years old when brought on.

As the article says "astoundingly bad 15-75 in the BE" Ouch. I really think that if DePaul get the right coach, they can be a power again. The article expresses a lot of concern about the current AD finding the right coach. DePaul fans, what's the story behind that?

I have been steadfast in saying I never thought Purnell would leave until his contract was up. I was wrong. WAY wrong. I'm shocked.

Should be interesting to see who the school gets. They could go young with Wardle, experienced with Howland, or out of left field with Joey Meyer.

You think? Howland keeps coming up but I think they need to go young.

Wouldn't rule out Mark Aguirre or Ty Corbin, either.

Wouldn't be shocked to see if the new coach is encouraged to hire Rod Strickland and/or Rashon Burno to be part of their new staff, as well.

Good luck DePaul fans! You deserve some after all this time.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
