How many NCAA tourney units will the BigEast earn this year?

the big east has always given the teams a minimum share then scaled it up so the teams that earned more got more. Mike Tranghese used to say the BIg East was capitalist and the ACC socialist. They never had split it evenly in the past but I'm not sure if they changed that now.

I wonder how much opinions have changed after the bracket was released. I agree that the absolute minimum we should hope for is 12, but there are some tough matchups that have me a bit concerned in the opening round.

I think 14-15 seems about right.
6 just for the 1st round
3-4 for Nova outside 1st round(making to elite 8 or final 4)
1 maybe for St John's(beating SDSU)
2 maybe for Georgetown(beating E Washington and then maybe Utah)
1-2 for Providence
1 for Xavier
that would be 14-16, without even Butler. That seems like a fair range.

I think 2 sweet 16 teams and 1 elight eight should be expected. Anything worse would be a disappointment.

This number is headed up after day one. If I am calculating correctly, we are at 10 right now if we lose the next 6 games. I like our chance for 18-20.

To get 18 we would have to get 8 more...

Nova max is 4 more(max is 5 units for tourney)

to get 18 we would need 4 others. Xavier is favored tomorrow vs Georgia St. St John's/SDSU. PC/Dayton seem very realistic... That gets us up to 17.

but then to get even 18 we would need-
Georgetown to beat Utah
or
Butler to beat Notre Dame
or
Providence to beat Oklahoma
or
St John's to beat Duke
or
Xavier to beat Arizona

All are possible of course. I would think we would be underdogs in all 5 games.

Yup. If both win today and then three of six teams make the Sweet 16 (15 credits), we would still need a Final Four run and an Elite Eight run to hit 18.

5 is the max. Once you get to the Final Four, you don't accumulate any more units. win or lose.
