There are also 65 P5 schools and 286 non P5. Odds are very good the non-P5's will pick up more P5 transfers than P5 schools retain. Of the 400 transfers listed, there are only about 15 to 20 to get remotely excited about. The two coming to Butler are depth guys. The Rotnei Clark's of the BB world don't come around very often.

Right but of the top 6- 3 are going to non P5 schools. A 4th was going to Long Beach St who was in the top 15(#14 if memory serves me right). So of those 15-20- at least 4 are going to non P5 schools- and probably more.

When most schools give a player a release from his scholarship, there is language prohibiting him from transferring in conference.

right but there are 4 other P5 conferences. Also the one that UConn picked up that is real high was from Cornell.

I don't see any negative that a lot of these top transfers are going to non P5 schools. And now 2 top 10 ones for the Big East and 2 for the AAC.

I agree there is nothing negative here. I just don't see anything different than years before.

Louisville picked up the transfer that may have a significant impact, Lee. But then again, the jump up to the ACC from Drexel may be too much for him. Going from a mid-major to a P5 is typically tougher than going the other way.

And what is the story line with the Big East picking up three A-10 players so far?

Yeah, I agree about the A10. It's pretty interesting, everyone on here hates on the AAC, but kind of gives the A10 a pass. The A10 if VCU doesn't lose Weber could have been a 2 bid conference. Dayton definitely made the tourney because of the injury- and you could probably say Davidson best case would have been in the PIG. Now in the offseason- A10 is losing folks, while the AAC is gaining folks.

I don't remember in years past as many top transfers going to non P5 schools. 3 out of 6 is quite a few.

what is up with PC and all these transfers?

I wonder if Stone leaving for Alabama had something to do with this? Sounds like he was heavily involved in bringing him to PC.

Ouch that sucks. Especially since I would've liked him at Georgetown and since he went to providence we can't even get him as a transfer.

There is a rule that Friar fans can't go a month without some kind of catastrophic news on the team.

Perception is that Cooley is a player's coach and he seems like a great guy but with these surprising transfers the last couple years, one has to wonder what is going on......
