Nice win…wow 7-1 in the last 8 beating G'Town and Xavier twice along the way. Didn't see it coming. Not with the injuries and the nonexistent bench. I almost wish Lavin would just sit the starters for the Nova game and get them rested up for the BET. Nova is playing out of their mind basketball, they historically have our number, it's an away game, and it really doesn't matter to us if we win or lose. Obekpa and Harrison are still very banged up and that will certainly affect how far we can go in the tourney. If they are still banged up it spells trouble.

By the way FYI SJU has now gone from 13 wins to 17 wins to 20 wins to 21+ wins year after year. Clear progress, and back to back 20 win seasons and 2 NCAA's in 5 years means we are relevant again. Also ranked as high as 15th in 2011 and 2014. Now we just need to keep recruiting and continuing the winning culture.

Wow. I didn't realize how closely this mirrored PCs trajectory until now.

Last 4 years under Cooley: 15 wins, 19 wins, 23 wins .... 21 wins so far this year.

Interesting dilemma for SJU... Get some banged up players some much needed rest or go all out against the top team to boost your resume even more? Tough call for Lavin. Maybe play the starters and see what happens. The biggest problem with that strategy though is that Nova's depth could wear down a short-handed Johnnies. So a close game for 35 mins could turn quickly in the last 5. So that may lead to the worst case scenario in which you end up playing Harrison and Obekpa a lot of minutes and lose anyway. If they were going to win, you'd almost want Nova to jump on them early.

1 thing, it's Nova's senior day, so it could be a case where Nova jumps out early like you're saying. Also- you know after the Creighton game, Wright will have them raring to go.

Read on the Friar board:

PC outscored Seton Hall 20-0 in second chance points last night, and they had outscored Marquette 18-0 on Sunday.
So 38-0 in 2nd-chance points the last 2 games.

Overall rebounding totals were 40-24 last night, and 48-26 on Sunday, with offensive boards at 12-4 Wed and 19-6 Sun.

What I was most impressed with was the run that PC went on after Cooley took off his jacket and threw it away when the Friars were down by 13. Coming out of tHe timeout at about 3:30 late in the first half through the early minutes of the 2nd half, after Carrington scored a layup to boost the Hall lead to 15, they went on a 15-1 run to get back in the game. Other coaches are going to have to perfect that jacket throwing technique if they're going to compete with Providence. :D

No one talks when Harrison plays well, but when he has a terrible game everyone is all over him on here :D
