More Realignment on the Way?

"Heard from a very credible source that ND will join ACC in FB in 2016 in exchange for NBC hosting the ACC TV Network. Not sure about split of revenue for existing NBC home ND FB games. Also NBC will buy out Raycom's share of ACC inventory. Will try to confirm this with another source this week. Can share this as I was not asked to keep it confidential." - NC State Pack Pride Boards, circulated to the CSNBBS Boards.

Notre Dame would get to keep its 4-game OOC rotation of Stanford, USC, and Navy (and any other school down the road). This would allow the ACC to pick up a 16th member for the conference. Speculation on boards is that it is Cincinnati (hence why they are expanding their football stadium to 40k).

The Big East waited on any expansion talk due to the possibility of further P5 realignment. One more final round of shifting could cause some schools to consider giving up on football - if they are effectively locked out from the P5.

How is the ACC Network going to be hosted by NBC when they have a pretty much exclusive contract with ESPN?

Cincinnati plans to expand their stadium were made years ago.

Why would ND do this? It has its cake and eats too!

I would think that UConn would be #16 for the ACC.

I'll believe it when I see it.
Why would ND give up its independence in football (one of it's greatest assets) to join the ACC? It's already has a back door into the College Football Playoffs. It's also affiliated already, meaning that it can play teams like FSU, Clemson, and GT without having to play teams like NC State, UNC, and BC on a regular basis. Right now ND has its cake and gets to eat it too.
“Even though I’m not playing I still don’t want my school to be disrespected, because I play for the name on the front of my chest, not the name on my back. I’m a part of this family now, and when they disrespected them they disrespected me”-Mo Watson Jr.

Notre Dame has to play all members of the ACC in a four (I think) year span, so they do not exactly get to pick their ACC competition.

It's actually a 3 year span.
2014-SYracuse, UNC, Florida St, Louisville
2015- Virginia, Ga Tech, Clemson, Pitt, WF, BC
2016- Duke, Syracuse, NC State, Miami, Va Tech
that's everyone, with Syracuse 2x.

I read all 4 pages of the link. A number of posters support the OP because he called the move of ND to the ACC last time 6 months in advance. He has credibility on that board and appears to have a pipeline to someone who is connected to insiders at ND.
