Mon Feb 23rd, 1G - Xavier at St John's...

The home for Big East hoops

Also from the actual site:
EXPECTED RPI RANK is the best estimate for an individual team of its end-of-season RPI Rank.

NOT the overall rank.

So doesn't paint the rosiest picture of St John's at all...

Which makes sense because if they go 2-3 rest of the way, with wins over Xavier and Marquette and a home loss to Georgetown road loss to Nova and a home BET loss- that's 2-3 raw but 2-3.4 added to their own record. Would make sense going down from 46 to roughly 58 as a result of that.

I want revenge tonight.

However, to show you what a team player I am, I want SJU to do well in the Big East Tournament along with Nova and Providence and Georgetown (some combination there). In other words, we need butts in the seats in NYC for the BE Tournament, and I assume those programs, in particular, will make that happen.

IF Xavier finds a way to win the next 3 - you're hopefully not laughing too hard at this point, given our helter-skelter ways this year - then we're in the NCAA Tournament regardless; I assume we'll be in it by winning against Nova and Creighton. I understand that's easier said than done, but we'll see what we'll see.

I just don't think we NEED a win tonight, though winning tonight will go a long way. I do want to read solid press clippings about the BE Tournament though.

Xavier lead 11-0 but how SJU leads 28-20 at the half.

Dom is the BE POY, sorry Hilliard

Dom is the most improved player for sure, but the POY is still Kris Dunn. Sorry!

St. John's needs to get above .500 in the league before Sir'Dom can be in consideration for BE POY.

Great game. Back-and-forth, a little sloppy, but it's up-and-down and fun to watch. Good crowd, too.

You'd think neither of these teams had ever practiced a free-throw before.

Most lopsided officiating from 1st to 2nd half I've ever seen.

No calls and then everything.
