Aw c'mon now Jet. Why no love for the Cats? I can see SJU as they really need it. But PC is basically a lock for the tourney already and wouldn't it be nice for the BE to get a 1-3 seed?

Agree, need Nova at 1 or 2 to set the stage for them. We will have several at 5-7; sometimes it a crapshoot with matchups and how you play. A little more cushion for Nova and the BE.

I'm obviously biased with the game tonight but after last year's tourney results, I'd much rather take my chances as a conference with four seeds between 3 - 6 (and another bid around 8- 9) than Nova as a 1 and the rest falling between 5 - 12.

Let's look at the difference between 1-6 seeds in getting to the rd of 32, sweet 16, and elite 8.

1 seeds- 120-0 getting to 2nd rd, 104/120 getting to sweet 16, 82/120 getting to elite 8- 48 to the final 4.
2 seeds- 113-7 getting to 2nd rd, 77 getting to sweet 16, 56 getting to elite 8- 26 to the final 4.
3 seeds- 102-18 getting to 2nd rd, 61 getting to sweet 16, 30 getting to elite 8- 14 to the final 4.
4 seeds- 95-25 getting to 2nd rd, 55 getting to sweet 16, 19 getting to elite 8- 13 to the final 4.
5 seeds- 76-44 getting to 2nd rd, 39 getting to sweet 16, 8 getting to elite 8- 6 to the final 4.
6 seeds- 79-41 getting to 2nd rd, 40 getting to sweet 16, 13 getting to elite 8- 3 to the final 4.

So over 2/3 of the 1 seeds make the elite 8, not even 2/3 of the 2's make the sweet 16, and barely over half the 3's make the sweet 16.

I think one thing that is really funny is the difference between the 4 and 5 seeds. I am guessing the difference is a lot of times, the 5 seed is still playing an at large team, or a top level 1 bid team, while 4 seeds are playing that 2nd level of 1 bid teams.

Villanova @ PC (+4); Over/Under 136
DePaul @ St. John's (-9.5); Over/Under 147.5

Under on Nova @ PC. There's no way they're getting to 136. Second game is harder to pick, but I will say under as well.

Gonna feel stupid later for saying this, but I have a really good feeling the 'dogs cover and win in both games.

I don't think the PC/Nova game matters much in terms of getting teams in. PC is in pretty much now as a lock to me. At some point, we need to start rooting for Nova to keep them as a 2 bare minimum with a chance as a 1.

Y'all can start rooting for Nova AFTER tonight! :D

Is CBSSports serious with this shit? VCU/LaSalle is going into double OT while they give us no other option to watch the SJU/DePaul game. F them and F us having to have our games on such a bootleg channel.

Yup that's a huge negative for Fox is not many alternate channels. Happened to X/Gtown last year and I had to watch the whole first half on a choppy Internet feed.

Finally! VCU goes down and almost halftime with our game.

I just realized who the color man for tonight's game is Doug Gottlieb. Here is a tweet he made early in January when DePaul was ranked 1st in the BE.

FWIW, he is doing a great job announcing the game. He really does know his stuff. And people act like dicks on twitter, its the nature of the platform.

I haven't missed many Nova games and can see early in a game when the team is very focused. Tonight they had that look that they weren't going to lose. PC never quit and are a quality team. Just think Nova has more bullets in its chambers while PC really needs LH and KD to carry the load.

The Butler game on Saturday is going to be a lot of fun.
