For Creighton Fans

Not sure if you care, but thought I'd post a video of Cooley's press conference after the game. Cooley had some nice things to say about the Creighton program. I heard that Cooley and Coach McDermott had dinner in Providence the night before the first game this year. I know they have become tight and hung out during the NCAA Tournament last year with their wives.

No offense, but I think every Creighton fan would rather have the W than kind, reassuring words from Cooley in the postgame presser...

Thanks captain obvious.

And no offense, but you didn't get the win so that's the best I can offer. Next time I won't post it.

Apologize for the first response to this post. I know Coach Mac and Cooley are good friends. I did watch his comments after the game. A lot of times it is easy to give praise to the team and coach you usually beat. However, I believe his statements were in earnest. Things aren't going well for the Jays, but Coach Mac is a class guy and runs a clean program. We know this would be a rebuilding year, but didn't expect to have the outcomes we have had. Perseverance! Coach Cooley is a class act, as is our Coach Mac! Most all Jays fans love being in the Big East and I thoroughly enjoy seeing top teams come to Omaha every game.

Creighton and Mac are all class. Great facilities and fan support. Creighton will reload. Creighton fans are unbelievably polite and friendly, quite unlike typical BE fans. Creighton has become my 2nd favorite team in the BE. Coach Mac is widely respected by coaches, including Pitino. Creighton, like BU and X, is a great addition to the league.

Agree completely. It's been a tough year but very glad to be in such a great league. Hoping you guys can make some noise in March.

I will say this, not many schools would still have a sell-out crowd of 17,500+ on a Saturday evening after a 6 game losing skid. I hope my fellow jaybackers continue to show up enmass, regardless of the record. The fellas are playing hard, and are an easy bunch to support even if they never manage to figure out how to get enough shots to drop to win these games.

If I were a Friars fan I'd feel really, really good about having Coach Cooley leading my team. I have a the same feeling that Coach Mac and Coach Cooley really like and respect each other. As you know it was a Pink Out game and CU was raising money for cancer awareness and research. You may or may not know that Coach Mac's wife is a breast cancer survivor. Right before tip off, Cooley came over to the Creighton side of the bench looking up into the crowd, obviously looking for someone. He finally spotted Coach Mac's wife and daughter and waved and smiled at them.

Class Act.

Agreed! Creighton might be down this year but they certainly aren't out! They will reload and be back soon enough. They lost a tremendous about of talent from last year and despite their struggles their fans support them 100% and don't leave when the going gets tough. You have to respect that.

Not sure why the first reply to this post was snarky. Thanks for posting the video.

There are quite a few parallels between Providence and Creighton, and I know Mac and Cooley have become pretty good friends. Come tournament time, Providence is certainly one of the schools (even more than the other league schools) I'll be pulling for to make a run.
