Looks good to me. Younger De La Rosa comes back next year as well. Pair him up with Diallo and Obekpa who I think might come back for his senior year and you have a front court that can compete with anyone. Then throw in a back court of Jordan, Sampson and Lovett and you got yourself a legit team who can make a run. It would be something we haven't had at St. John's in a long time, a mix of upper and lower classman.

A lot of could and would and might in that article but hopefully most of it is true. The Big East needs successful teams in New York, Philly and Chicago to be a successful conference in regards to TV viewership. TV viewership is more important than attendance and almost as important as the success of our conference tourney.

Super premature article. Need to actually land Diallo before this article makes any sense. Even then if Obekpa and Jordan leave then it's a moot point that St. John's will be better. Note I'm using moot point in it's actually definition meaning debatable.

You guys have exceeded expectations in BE games so far. Not time to throw stones yet.

Do you think if SJU does not make the dance, Lavin is back? Simply saying, that with a team that will be depleted significantly next year due to graduation and potential declaring for the draft, along with an underachieving season, I am not so sure Lavin would be the coach.

I think Lavin will be back even if we don't make the dance. I think we will have a good to very good recruiting class. He will likely get two years added to his contract (which will be in its last year next season) in order to help with recruiting. An extension, with a buyout clause, should have been done by now, imo, in order to avoid causing difficulties on the recruiting front.

We have a new President, there are rumors of cutbacks in other parts of the university, and some say the AD is also on the hot seat. I only know about the cutbacks. I have no info about the AD, so I don't know how his status affects Lavin's. Men's BB is (I'm assuming) the only revenue generating sport for the university. It would be foolish not to invest adequately in it. Whether that is with Lavin or someone else is someone else's decision. I am of the opinion that he has been a positive (both on anf off the court) in terms of getting us back to where we want to be.

I have been very patient with Lavin's progress as I think he has done an all right job. But his team is plenty loaded this yr, if they don't make the dance how do you bring him back?

Heck, I though this SJU team had the potential to challenge nova for the top spot and earn a top 4 tourney seed. But what we have seen since the new year, absent that providence game, has been real poor.

Beating Duke can change everything, but it is tough to see that hapoening.
