You can place whatever weight you want in this stuff, but I think Cream was better.

Crean took over a team from a lesser caliber conference that had made it out of the first weekend only once in almost a quarter century and had limited tv exposure and returned them to national prominence, including a big east invite and a final four. Buzzy took over a team that was in the best conference in the nation with big tv exposure and recent national success and maintained the level that Crean created, but never reached the same heights. You disagree with that statement?

Give me Crean.

Sweet 16s

Buzz 3
Crean 1

Elite 8s

Buzz 1
Crean 1

Less than 20win seasons.

Buzz 1
Crean 4

Seasons with two future NBA players on the team where we didn't even make the ncaa tournament

Crean 2
Buzz 0

Next yes CUSA wasn't the old big east but I'd argue that at that point it was just as strong as this big east Marquette, Louisville, Cinci (under Huggins), Memphis and even depaul wasn't terrible yet and Tulsa was good for a couple years.

Let's also not forget that Buzz recruited more top 100 players in a shorter period of time than Crean did in a longer period.

If NBA final mvps count let's look at overall NBA players to.

Buzz: Butler, Hayward, Crowder, Johnson Odom, Blue.

Crean: Wade, Novak, Deiner.

Id argue Matthews doesn't make it without Buzz and McNeal never actually played despite being signed.

Crean only had 3 25+ win seasons, not 4. And Buzz had 3 25+ win seasons, not 2.

Buzz 139-69 .668 69-39 .639
Crean 190-96 .664 90-56 .616

Crean made it out of the 1st weekend once- and out of the 1st rd only twice.

Crean- 3 times lost in 1st rd as a higher seed. 8 to 9, 7 to 10 and 5 to 12.
Buzz- 1 time lost 1st rd as a higher seed 6 to 11.

NCAA wins- Buzz 8 Crean 5

bottom line they were real close. Probably would have to say Buzz only because all Crean did was with Wade(back when there was no 1 year rule for the NBA as well).

This weeks episode had a great feature on Creighton's facilities for those interested.

Yeah, but he did have four 24-win seasons. :D

Is there any site that has all of the "Inside the Big East" episodes. Perhaps on the Big East site, maybe? I love watching these and they're very interesting.

Yeah, recently they had the great Creighton facilities segment, and a nice segment on Billy Garrett Jr... There was another piece on Lavin and Gene Keady driving around NYC. Another piece on Matt Stainbrook driving Uber cars, which included his brother and other XU teammates.
Really good show. Cartoon things are pretty funny too.

Caught the latest "Inside The Big East" the other day (March 1st), which was another great show.

Features included a lengthy piece and interview with former Pirate Luther Wright. Wright was the big man, a force at 7'-2", on the Terry Dehere teams 20 years ago. He ran into some difficult times but is starting to put things together. Apparently he does some DJ-ing at Seton Hall games.

Also, they had a nice segment on the Villanova women's hoops coach (Peretta (?)). He's coached the women's team for 37 or so years. Liked that he said his 3 coaching mentors were Rollie Massimino, Dave Gavitt and Joe Mullaney.
:)

Great show. I also caught some of the 1-on-1 Show that featured Jay Wright, which was pretty cool.
