Isaiah Whitehead has a stress fracture and will be out for "a few weeks." Merry Christmas Seton Hall.

Update: the stress fracture is of the second and third metatarsal bones in his foot. The Pirates seem optimistic that he'll only be out a few weeks, but I don't think that seems realistic. 2 years ago they lost Patrick Auda to a similar injury and by trying to come back too soon he made it worse and wound up being done for the year.

Obviously this is a huge blow for the Pirates. They managed to avoid the injury bug last season, but with that one exception they've regularly had some of the worst injury luck in the country over recent years.

Isaiah Whitehead update: he says he's no longer feeling any pain and has an MRI scheduled for Monday. If all goes well, it's possible he plays on Tuesday against Butler. The more likely scenario, however, is that with 9 days off between games they'll take the cautious approach and bring him back for the following game, 1/22 vs. DePaul.
