I know it's early, and this team is young, but I believe that they have the talent to be a winner this year. This conference is awesome right now. tThey will take their lumps at some point. However, this team is deep and only will improve. We shall see with the rest of the nonconference schedule (@ Wichita, @Georgia, vs. George Washington) how good they can be. I believe they can go 2 and 1.

No one responded so I'm gonna bump this after our win today. Any believers?

GW is a decent team, winning @Georgia and giving Wichita State a good game would make me a believer. I think Seton Hall can be top half of the Big East.

I'll provide some negativity to the discussion. :) GW is a good team, but SH should have won that much more easily. Can't see any sign that the Pirates are running an offense, it's just everybody looking to put up a shot. Gibbs doesn't run the team so much as he looks for his own shot, and it seems to affect everybody. I thought the Hall had a good roster last year, but Willard didn't do much with it then so I'm not sold they're an upper-half BE team.

On the plus side, Whitehead and Delgado are terrific. I know Whitehead was the prize of the class, but Delgado is incredibly productive down low. Best to leave the room when he shoots free throws, though.

I agree with Wizard regarding KW's "Offensive Schemes"... Simply stated, he doesn't have many.

IW & Angel are going to be beasts... But I remember everyone on this board saying how Desi, Anthony and Carrington weren't going to be factors... Desi is an amazing athlete, rebounder and shot blocker (at only 6'5) he also figures out ways to score points. Typical "junk yard dog" type player... Anthony grabs boards, plays solid back to the basket defense and also alters/blocks shots... Carrington is probably our best perimeter defender and was controlling the point when SHU made their run to tie the game up.

The board needs to give all our Freshman props...

Now KW? That's a different story.

Pirates can afford at most two non conference losses but really only the WSU game on the road to make the tournament. The good news is that I believe that the BE can/will get 5 teams into the tournament.

GW is one of the best defensive teams in the country, not many teams will be able to put them away early and the majority of high majors would probably lose to them. I see it as a positive that a SHU team that relies heavily on the 3 had a horrible (2 of 14 I think, or something like that) day shooting the ball and still was able to beat a team that will in all likelihood be an NCAA tournament team. Good teams find ways to win even when they don't play their best.

As far as KW goes, I think he's done a pretty good job in the past staying relatively competitive despite having far inferior talent to a lot of Big East opponents. I'm excited to see what he can do now with a team full of Big East level talent.
