Didn't realize Nova was so depleted with regards to bigs. Besides Ochefu, most of their players are around 6-5.

The roster makeup is basically the same as last season in terms of size.

Man, I didn't think I'd have to sweat this game out like this.

Villanova has looked pretty bad in 2 of the 3 games so far. They will really need to step it up against VCU....

Nova fans - what's the problem?

id kind of think it's be very possible that boredom would be a threat. For a team as good as Nova- the 1st 3 games are such cupcakes that they had no business even being on the floor with them really. Now, if they come out and get waxed by VCU- got some real potential issues.

Not sure what's been the major problem (other than 3 pt %) but the season just started so I, for one, am not too concerned yet. Going into the season the 3 spots that you wouldn't find any Nova fan worried about were at PG (Archidiacono), wing (Hilliard) and PF (Pinkston). But those 3 have not yet found their game at all this year, and frankly have been weak spots. Dylan Ennis who some thought might be behind Frosh Phil Booth on the depth chart and 3rd or 4th off the bench has been our best player at 2G. Very athletic. Also not many expected much out of the post but Daniel Ochefu has been terrific on both ends and they've gotten solid contribution from Soph Reynolds off the bench.

My take is that Hilliard is trying to do too much as the Sr. leader and forcing some shots--especially from long range. Archi has been Ok, but needs to improve defensively, and JVP has not been aggressive enough and seems to be deferring. I think they just need to gel. I like the roster a LOT if Ennis and Ochefu continue to show the improvement that they have at this point. Would still put money down on them winning the BE and being a Top 4 seed in the dance, but next week VCU & Michigan/Oregon will certainly be a better measuring stick for them.

The problem is the same problem we've had since Jay Wright has been coach. No real set offense, just 4 out, 1 in, throwing the ball around and chucking 3s. If Pinkston and Ochefu played for other coaches they would be combing for 30 points a game. Those kids can get us points in the paint. Trust me. Jay's offense just doesn't give them the opportunity.

There is a saying at Villanova now, "Shoot 'em up and sleep in the streets." I like it, but when you are shooting under 30% from 3 game after game, time to find a new motto.
