Another Blow For St. John's

If this doesn't send SJHooper over the edge nothing will. Reports running rampant that Adonis DelaRosa will be declared ineligible.

@RogRubin: An academic issue is likely to prevent St. John's freshman Adonis De La Rosa from playing this semester. NYDN story coming. #sjubb

Final nail in the coffin for Briscoe and thus Lavin. Hope everyone understands why I don't have rose-colored glasses rooting for this program. Sounds like the house needs to be cleaned thoroughly. I'd be shocked if Briscoe chooses SJ now. We were neck and neck with UK, and this could be the thing that pushes him that bit more to pick UK. If I were Calipari I'd be texting Briscoe saying "Looks like another player ineligible for St. John's. Seems to be routine there.".

We are really in a situation now where we may have to play walk ons in major minutes next year. If there's anything you guys should take away from this, it should be this: I am not crazy. This really is a cursed program and now you see the proof. Excited for the season then BOOM no Thomas. Oh well, we still have Adonis right? BOOM no Adonis. Oh well, we still have Briscoe to look forward to right? You know how this will end. Briscoe will not be coming and I can't even blame him at this point.

Also find it funny that the NCAA deemed him eligible then said "no wait…we take that back…something on your SAT looks weird". Yet, remember Derrick Rose on Memphis? There were all these rumors that he hired someone else to take the SAT for him. All kinds of cheating allegations. And what did the NCAA do? Nothing. What about UNC cheating for 20 years? Nothing. What about Cuse? Nothing. If we lose Briscoe I need to take a break from this team and I'm serious.

Adonis was not going to be a big contributor this season. He needs to get in better shape. Not having him for the fall means little.

I could see Lavin not knowing about the WCC incident, it was internal.
But he didn't know that Adonis might not qualify?

Yeah I know, if IB comes here then you gotta extend his contract. I get that, but how about for one year. IB will be 1 and done right?

Losing two big men is tough. Now we'll play small ball? Who will rebound vs. big front courts? Guess we better hit our shots.

He was cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse initially, not sure that this falls on Lavin. do agree though that in the end I don't think he was going to play much this year. Reports still seem to indicate that he may still end up being eligible. Who knows at this point.

Why is anyone surprised? This kind if crap is par for the course with Lavin and staff. Of course the Lavin defenders are at it already, "it's not Lavin's fault", "we didn't need him anyway", etc.etc.etc. the pattern is all too familiar though. What people have not realized or will never admit is that Lavins recruiting has sucked for some time now. Posters will state what a good class it was to get Rysheed, while justifying that a one person class was good? And yes, Lavin did make several offers that year to other bigs but failed miserably to close. The 14 class is a complete joke, which makes Thomas and Delarosa not being able to play even more visible. I really don't believe that Lavin fell asleep on the 14 class, I think he just failed badly to sign anyone.

In terms of Briscoe, as a St. John's fan I would love to have a player of his caliber commit especially if he can convince others to come. But let's get real here, with or without Briscoe, Lavin still won't win here and then the Lavin defenders will be saying how the players are overrated, it's not Lavins fault etc. etc. etc. In another sense, I hope Briscoe does not commit, as you know the brainless trust will be inclined to give the fraud an extension and just prolong the inevitable. I am hoping that this is the final nail in the coffin with a new administration that seems to be on the ball, and that this is Lavin's swan song. In short, good bye, good riddance and don't let the door hit you in the butt. St. John's deserves better then a Steve Lavin at the helm.

Yes, Briscoe is a 1 and done. I know for a fact that Briscoe has been very demanding and his father is very interfering and involved (not in a good way) in the process. Briscoe is looking for the quickest way to the league and that is all he cares about. Going to class isn't one of his priorities either. Trust me, Jay Wright backed off for a reason. He will be a player where ever he ends up but this is all true.

$10 says Briscoe picks St. John's then doesn't qualify academically!

Huh? You know the NCAA stripped Memphis of every game Rose played in including their National runner up status right?
