The 1st Bracketology for 2015

I kid you not. 4 Big East teams. Kind of funny considering not a single game has been played yet.

Villanova - 4
Georgetown - 8
Xavier - 9
St. John's - 12 (Play-In Game)
Providence - Last 4 Out

Villanova as a 4 seed is a major ouch. I can't see them that low right now.

Providence is one the "Last Four Out". If things break right there is no reason we can't get 5 teams in.

Most certainly. If we're really lucky, 6 is a possibility if teams take care of non-conference play and if a team on the outside of the bubble sweeps through the conference tournament.

hunch is the way he's got it set up- St John's/PC would be a BET 4/5 game where winner is in and loser is out.

seeds are horrible- Georgetown and Xavier with 8/9 which are the worst ones to get.

VCU - 5
George Washington -7
Dayton - 8
Rhode Island - 12 (Play-In Game)
Richmond - Last 4 Out
Richmond '99

I'd take those seeds over the CBS one any time. yea a bit of a tougher 1st rd game, but then a better 2nd rd matchup..
8/9 seeds have beat 1 seeds 16 out of 120 times. (11 for 8, 5 for 9)
10 seeds have beat 2 seeds 18 times by themselves and then also 4 other times where the 10 seed beat the 15 seed- so 22 times.

and just in case you were wondering-
11 seeds advanced 17 times
12 seeds advanced 20 times

So you are better off in a lot of ways being a 10 or 11 seed than a 8 seed. Heck 13 seeds have advanced 6 times(or 1 more than a 9 seed ever has).

And If St. John's and PC win a few quality games and avoid bad losses in non-conference play, finish around 9-9 in conference play, and have RPIs in the 40s-low 50s both would be in and this wouldn't be an elimination scenario.
