If SJU Can Pull This Off

It would be a game changer.

@NYPost_Brazille - Hearing from a source, Isaiah Briscoe has been in Cheick Diallo's ear about St. John's. Huge weekend for the Johnnies. ‪#‎sjubb‬

Not only that, but his coach said he has gotten indications that Briscoe wants to stay home. If he wants to stay home, SJ is going to win this thing. We've been recruiting him the longest and hardest, and his father absolutely loves us. UK cannot offer the playing time. He's just another face in the crowd at UK. Lavin has been known as a closer with Obekpa and Jordan most recently and guess what? We get the last visit before he decides. He is coming to the tipoff with other top recruits like Diallo who lives 45 minutes from campus and will find a lot in common with Obekpa who went to the same HS and is also from Nigeria.

It's a great sign and I'm excited now, but something is just telling me to relax and not think too much into it. Lavin has been in a recruiting funk as of late which is very troubling and this kid also seemed to love UConn, UK, and Mizzou. He's like the attractive girl who flirts with everyone and every man thinks she wants him more. If there is any way Lavin can bag Briscoe and Diallo in a package deal that means we would have TWO top 10 players nationally. And no doubt it would open the floodgates for more great commits. It would also be a major coup for the conference.

Fingers crossed, but trying to hold off on dreaming, because I don't want the disappointment. I still think it's anyone's game at this point. He seemed in awe of UK, loved Mizzou even trying a jersey on, and could not stop talking about UConn. Now he's flirting with us again. Let's just wait to see his decision.

They Can't.

Brazille is just a St. John's cheerleader not an actual reporter.

If you're SJU you have to be very happy if you land one of Briscoe, Sampson, or Diallo. Anything more than that is gravy.

Big East recruiting for 2015 would leap near the top of the conferences if Lavin can pull this off...

Lavin NEEDS to pull this off. SJU loses A LOT after this year, especially with Jordan pretty much already saying he is gone. If they don't make the tournament this year and continue to miss on the big time recruits you need to show Lavin the door and try to find another coach who can get it done because Steve is clearly not doing so. The fact that St. John's still relies on the JUCOs is disheartening as well. No other program in Big East history has relied on JUCOs the way St. John's does.

Might want to check Marquette's History. They've depended on JUCO's more than anyone since they joined the BE.

I have no problem with jucos, 1-2 a class can bold well for a teams talent, experience, and class balance.

Saw that Briscoe has been talking with Sampson as well. If he wasn't seriously considering St Johns then we wouldn't be reaching out to these guys like he is I think this is a good sign
