The Holy Land of Hoops

This was a tough position for me to rank after the number 1 guy on my list.

1.) Ledontae Henton PROV - Does a little bit of everything and also does it well. Very good rebounder, very capable shooter. Makes impact on the game without having to dominate the ball.

2.) Roosevelt Jones BUT - Will be interesting to see how he does coming back from injury and adapting to the BE. Shown that he is as versatile a player as there is in this conference.

3.) Josh Hart NOVA - This is a kid that I feel is going to blow up. Will step in nicely in Bell's absence. Reminds me of Kawhi Leonard.

4.) Kellen Dunham BUT - Wasn't sure if I should put him as a SG or SF but went with SF. Really good scorer, not just a shooter, defense is suspect.

5.) Jabril Trawick GTOWN - Chose him over Burton and Harris. Love his toughness and defense. Will be happy to see him graduate.

My guess is the majority of the time that Dunham will be playing at the SG, so I'd probably put him there. I'm not sure if Trawick will be a Small Forward this year either. Trevon Bluiett is someone I think will also be one of the better small forwards in the league when it's all said and done. Out of the list that is above, I'd probably pick Henton. For all the Marquette folks out there, I'd be interested to see what they classify Deonte Burton as? Small Forward? Power Forward? No one else in the league is 6'4, 240 lbs.

If Dunham moves to SG then Burton would slide up to 5. Trawick might play some SG but he really is a SF. Same reason why Phil Greene is a SG all though he may start at the "3".

Yeah I'd classify Trawick as a Guard especially this year and Dunham as a SG. I'd classify Burton and Henton as PFs, but the whole thing is pretty subjective.

Yikes, is there even 5 SF in the BE this year?

Probably not lol. Lot of 3 guard sets in the BE. In my opinion a true SF has to be 6'4-6'8 have at least some perimeter skills and not be the 2nd tallest player on the court for his team.

You'd be much better off classifying this as a "wing" category I think because so many people can easily slide between the 2-3

I would have to agree with Chalmers0's above comment. And, with that in mind and barring injuries, I suspect that Xavier's Blueitt and Abell will get at least some slight mentions for such an honor come late March.

Henton would be my pick. As said, can impact a game in so many ways. Always contributes. The poster boy on how steady career progression should be done. Expect to see him at the next level a long time. Hoping Bluiett has half as good a freshman year as Henton did.

Which "next level" exactly? He's a tweener at 6'4-6'5. He could never defend NBA 2's and would struggle to defend NBA 3's. He's definitely a pro but I just don't think it will be in the NBA.
