I saw that this morning. Good old "Tire Iron" Barnes was one helluva player for the Friars back in the early '70's. I was in grad school at Brown when he and Ernie "no-D" Gregorio were taking the Friars, under Coach Gavitt, on a great ride in the NCAA's. Fun to watch that team play.

If you want to read some funny stories about Movin' Marvin Barnes, pick up Bob Costas' Loose Balls, a history of the ABA. Costas was the announcer for the Spirits of St. Louis while Movin' Marvin played for the team. Really neat stuff. One story in particular, the team was traveling from St. Louis to Louisville, through a time zone change. The plane left, say, at 7 PM and arrived in Louisville at 6:45 PM. Marvin said I ain't getting on no time machine.
