College Basketball Countdown

Just saw USA Today is doing a thing where they are counting down the 68 teams making the tourney. Today 1st day- Texas Southern.

Also- College Sports Madness does top 144... so far they are up to 97.

1 Big East team so far-
#98 St John's, who they have #8 in the Big East.

I'm guessing Butler and DePaul would have been outside the top 144.

Both are set where when they get to #1 it's the opening week of the college basketball season.

Dang no respect for the Johnnies. I'd have guessed they would be higher and I think they will be a bubble team this march.

they're so thin inside I think what's hurting them there.

Not really the case. Not too many scoring threats but plenty of bodies and capable defenders and rebounders.

3-4 at most, and some are new players. If 1-2 don't pan out, St John's may have to go with 4 guards and 1 post player.

Also- the difference between 98 and say 58(and bubble) is like 2 maybe 3 wins. St John's feels like a 17-14 type of team- similar to what Marquette did last year quite frankly.

I believe SJU is better than #98. Harrison and Jordan make for a really, really good backcourt. Maybe it is addition by subtraction. Sampson wasted his talents IMO. He could have taken anyone down low to the paint and shot over them but he settled for jumpshots. Why? Maybe it clears things up for their guards. Jut let those two try to light it up on offense and have Obekpa go after O boards. If they can learn how to commit to D they'd be pretty good actually. Sleepers. If only Lavin could coach...

Yup 3-4 at most but is that really that thin? Im also not too opposed to some 4 guard sets, just not more than 5-8 minutes a game. It seems a lot of people figure St. John's is much worse off with the loss of Sampson. Im not sure how many times you watched them play but he hurt us more than he helped us. I would say it is highliy improbable that St. John's has a worse record than they did last year 20-13. I have few concerns about the roster, we return our two best players and should have one of top 2 back-courts in the BE. Like gumby said, my biggest worry is the x's and o's

Probably the opinion of one or two guys putting this together. Nothing here to get upset about.

It's always fun to have SOMETHING to talk about in the summer beyond recruiting.

All DePaul needs to get back to being a quality team is a new athletic director, a new head coach, and to play in and recruit Chicago and its suburbs well.

Wyoming just got added as #95 today. #5 in the MWC. That conference has regressed from a few years ago big time.
