Creighton alum Kyle Korver is one of 19 invited by Coach K to be on the team. Pretty cool.

19 players on the US roster were invited to the training camp later this month in Vegas. The list will be trimmed to 12 for the World Cup in Spain, August 30 - Sept 14.

Interesting that the 2014 tourney will be the last time the tournament will be held on the current four-year cycle. The next FIBA World Cup of Basketball will be held five years later, in 2019, to reset the four year cycle on a different year than the FIFA Soccer World Cup. Kind of shows that soccer rules over hoops on an international level.

Love dropped out. Only 18 will come to camp and six cut. Front court is thin.

Haters going to hate. Really, that's what you had Dog? Not, good news, only 19 players in the NBA invited? You need to get a new attitude. By the way, you may be hearing about Doug for a long time- that's good news for most Big East fans.

Horrible injury last night to Paul George at the US National Team trials. He suffered a compound fracture of his tibia and fibula. I recommend that you don't watch the video.

While everyone's thoughts are on Paul, as he is a fine outstanding member of the Indianapolis community, this injury was somewhat preventable. George's leg got caught under a stanchion just below the basket. In Las Vegas, the stanchion stands two feet and two inches closer to the baseline than it does on a normal NBA court. It's one of the reasons the NBA rarely plays games on that floor in Las Vegas. Players are used to significantly more room under the basket. If that stanchion isn't so close to the floor, this accident doesn't happen.

With Paul's injury and the news that Bulldog Alumni Andrew Smith is in the ICU, this has not been a good week in Indy.
