guess looking back at it- timing may have been everything. when the voting was taking place I think was right in the middle of the Winston scandal this spring where he got suspended from the baseball team.

Also, I think even just w/o the scandals, Winston is a pretty polarizing person. Could see some folks really turned off by him.

Let's not loose site of the true meaning of last night, support of the Jimmy V foundation and it's fight against cancer. It is totally irrelevant who wins any of the 35 ESPY Awards. To me, the true winner last night was Stuart Scott and his story of his battle with cancer and how he is living with this disease. If you didn't see his speech, find it on EPSN.com and watch it. It will be a very well spent 6 minutes.

"Don't give up, don't ever give up." Jimmy V

It's too bad he couldn't get the night off of work. Seriously though, how cool is it for a big east guy to win this award in year one of our new league?

No doubt mcbuckets wins this, he is one the the top 3 best ever in the Big East. Winston was okay but Doug much better. If you disagree you must be a reverse racist.

Some behind the scenes stuff with McDermott. Reminds me of the kid next door.

He's atypical for an NBA rookies in more ways than one.

McDermott just won unofficial title of greatest Jay ever this weekend. While Nebraska football played at Northwestern, the stadium screen showed Doug in a Northwestern shirt pumping up the crowd. Holy crap did the local NU press go apeshit wondering how he could be rooting against the Huskers.

Nice opening game for McDermott today. 5-9 w/12 points including a dunk in a blowout win against the Knicks at MSG.
