OT: NBA/Lakers All-Time Team

BallisLife put this out earlier. It got a lot of run. I could argue all day why some IMO others should be on here like A.I. & Paul Pierce and others off like Pippen & Drexler. But my squad would be:

PG: Magic
SG: Wade
SF: KD
PF: Garnett
C: Kareem

$14. Wade or maybe Olajuwan have to be the best value picks.

A.I. really should be on this list. Either way...

PG: Stockton
SG: Jordan
SF: James
PF: Dirk
C: Hakeem

Obviously this is just an offensive juggernaut of a team. The reason it could work is they can all hold their own on defense (and Jordan James exceedingly so) as well.

$1 PG - Walt Frazier - http://www.nba.com/history/players/frazier_summary.html
As a Knicks player, Frazier scored 19.3 points per game, played in seven NBA All-Star Games, and was named to four All-NBA First Teams and seven NBA All-Defensive First Teams.

$3 SG - Jerry West - http://www.nba.com/history/players/west_summary.html
Combine a deadly jump shot, tenacious defense, obsessive perfectionism, unabashed confidence, and an uncompromising will to win, and you've got Jerry West, one of the greatest guards in NBA history.

$4 SF - Larry Bird - http://www.nba.com/history/players/bird_summary.html
For 13 seasons with the Boston Celtics, from 1979-80 through 1991-92, Bird personified hustle, consistency and excellence in all areas of play--as a scorer, a passer, a rebounder, a defender, a team player, and, perhaps above all, as a clutch performer.

$4 PF - Charles Barkley - http://www.nba.com/history/players/barkley_bio.html
There are four players in NBA history who have compiled at least 20,000 points, 10,000 rebounds and 4,000 assists: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, Karl Malone, and Charles Barkley.

$3 C - Wilt Chamberlain - http://www.nba.com/history/players/chamberlain_bio.html
He was basketball's unstoppable force, the most awesome offensive force the game has ever seen. Dominating the game as few players in any sport ever have, Chamberlain seemed capable of scoring and rebounding at will, despite the double- and triple-teams and constant fouling tactics that opposing teams used to try to shut him down.

I would submit that Wilt Chamberlain is the best value pick, closely followed by Walt Frazier, who was one of the best defensive guards ever to play in the NBA.

With all due respect to others who post on this thread, my $15 team could kick your team’s ass.

I was curious to see how other posters spent their money.

Bill Marsh missed the boat. And not by a small margin.

I like this. Here is my strategy. Got to say when building this team that it is about finding the best value. They are all great players but some positions are closer as far as the #5 and the #1. If we know anything about basketball, usually the team with THE BEST player wins, so having 5 players at $3 likely wont be a successful team. So I am taking the 2 most dominating players IMO, LBJ and JORDAN. Then, getting value with my bigs because all of those big men are great and I can be cheap there.

Stockton $2
MJ $5
LBJ $5
Garnett $1
Shaq $2

Most dominant C in the paint; an almost perfect PF that does EVERYTHING well- and also can space the floor and plays D; LBJ and MJ- enough said; and Stockton because I had $2 remaining.

***If I could make an amendment. I would but Durant at $2 over Stockton, and play Lebron at point gaurd. -now that would be an unbeatable team. :D

Magic $5
Jodarn $5
Pippen $1
Duncan $3
Hakeem $1

I'm going with big guys who can rebound, but won't demand the ball offensively. Pippen is one of the best defenders of all time so I like my chances with MJ and Magic outscoring opponents.

Its funny, growing up in the 90's Jordan was always the de-factor GOAT. But this little game has made me reconsider that. I don't think there is a player on this list that brings more value than LBJ. Guy can play almost all 5 positions well.
