The first season is in the books; I know there was office space to take care of; the new and innovate items for the league I know will be held close to the vest until the right time.

Has anyone got any information about the obvious things like addition league promotions or league challenges (pac12; sec), ... etc?

What's on the horizon of interest?

Others leagues make a bid deal when they get a big out of conference game(s) from other league(s) just for promotional purposes.

Any evidence that other conferences make a big deal about OOC announcements? I lot of posters think that conferences are doing things differently than we are, and in most cases thats not entirely accurate.

Honestly to me, I think she gets a bad rap just because she is a woman. I think some people can't handle that we have a woman in charge. I've seen some people say she doesn't understand because she isn't a man. Right here, "Commiss". Really?

I don't know about you, but most of the time I see a commissioner make a statement...it's something bad.

I don't know much about Val Ackerman, but the Presidents of your schools saw something in her.

I like that things are getting done slowly but surely, without bluster or blowhardness.

I have no problems at all with Ackerman but the Presidents judgement can not be fully trusted. Remember these are largely the same people who chose meatball as the former BE commish. Clearly he was anything but a success. I know of no one outside Providence who would give him any credit.

I believe they did well with Val however.

Meatball? Really? I always have been bothered by that derogatory name for him. Even if someone tried to spin it based on his size, it stilled played off his ethnicity. It's also a bit off base to blame the 7 school presidents (at least 2 of whom were not in their current positions) for his hiring. Ignoring the fact that we don't know how the selection process occurs, the 7 schools represented either a minority or half of a group (never "largely the people") who thought he was the best person for the job.

She thinks we're fine at ten teams when gonzaga (as we now know) and vcu would join in a heartbeat. Next year is looking like another year of underwhelming ball (one ranked team preseason for starters).

Maybe she doesn't have control over that, and then I couldn't blame her.

As for other issues, she hasn't done anything impressive or unimpressive. Still waiting on a challenge with a major conference. The best parts of the BE (keeping the name and msg) were in place prior to her coming on.

Overall, if she has control over expansion then 1.5/10. If she doesn't 6/10.

I don't think she has any control over expansion. She is gonna do whatever the presidents want to do.

Exactly. The presidents hold all the power when it comes to expansion. She could endorse it for all we know, but she has no power when it comes to expansion except for the power of suggestion and recommendation.
