Buzz Williams leaving Marquette for Va Tech

Very curious move, if true.

There must be issues at Marq or he is crazy. Marq has one of the top 5 budgets in all of college basketball. Va Tech is a very tough job.

1) He does not like the NBE

2) There are impeding infractions heading Marquette's way

3) He and the Marquette brass are at serious odds.


I am leaning towards option 1.

Perhaps we are all guilty of over-valuing this league and the Marq program. On paper it's a head scratcher but Va Tech is an ACC school. Not what the league needed to hear unfortunately. Any guesses on replacements?

I am leaning towards option 1.

I'd say as a part of 1 maybe recruiting this year has gotten tougher with FS1- as the year's gone along recruits aren't liking not getting on ESPN a lot.

Do these lateral moves ever work out? I can't remember a coach leaving one prominent school for another and having similar success. Although, only ones that immediately come to mind is Bub Huggins and Frank Martin. Ugh, I guess Pitino and Cal.
