NIT Thread

Figured I would put up an NIT thread for St. John's and G'Town. Both start tomorrow night with home games. The Hoyas get some old friends in the way of the West Virginia Mountaineers out of the Big 12. As I recall, the two fan bases used to have some pretty amped up go arounds on their respective boards. If they win that one, they get either Florida State or Florida Gulf Coast. The Johnnies look for their 7th NIT Championship run (although the 2003 game was vacated, most outlets have them as 6 time champions). As a one seed they are set up quite nicely with home games throughout the entire tourny both at Carnesecca and the Garden. They start off with Robert Morris and get either Green Bay or Belmont should they win. It ain't the NCAA, but its still hoops so Go Big East!

I knew this was likely where we were heading for a while now, so I will live with it for now assuming we make the tourney next year. If we don't make it next year I'm finished until Lavin is gone. Just that simple. But I'm still a fan and I still want to see SJ succeed anywhere possible. I just can't see this team winning big games. So far they failed every single test except the Marquette game to barely keep a pulse and even then we tried to give it away in the final seconds and almost did. Our kryptonite are games that matter with pressure. I can't picture us making any kind of serious run and fully expect a ridiculous inexcusable loss to a mid major at some point soon. I think this team is demoralized.

Next year if we can't make the real tourney our AD needs to get his head examined especially if he gives Lavin an extension for mediocrity.

SJU down 22 points at half. You never know with these NIT games, sometimes teams are disappointed they didn't make the NCAA and mail it in. Looks like what SJU is doing.

Have to believe SJU getting to the NCAA next year is a must or Lavin is in the hot seat. Almost his whole team is back from this year, there should be no excuses.

In other news Georgetown is up by 6 over WVU with about 8 minutes to play

Furious run by SJU...74 to 66 RMU. Why does SJU refuse to play hard and consistently the whole game and then with about 5 minutes left decide to flip the switch?
