IF PC were to defeat SHU tomorrow night, would their RPI improve or would it worsen?

Worsen slightly. SHU is PCs only bad loss. I think they need to beat them to get into the tourney.

This will be a very tough game. SH is looking very solid. They have much more talent than their RPI indicates.

Good luck to PC tomorrow. It's awesome to know that one of the Big East founding members will have an opportunity to play for the BE title game on Saturday and that it'll be a school who hasn't been there in a while. Providence hasn't reached the title game since that 1994 championship and Seton Hall hasn't made it since their 1993 championship.

I'm also glad the opponent is PC because it looks like they're already in the tourney, so a Seton Hall win won't be "sabotaging the conference"(as people on here like to put it) as a SHU win over SJU would be.

I'll be rooting for the winner of this game to take the title.

Gibbs, Edwin, and Auda all are extremely talented and can definitely see SHU continuing their hot streak. Teague is a beast down low. Hopefully Desrosiers can nullify Teague a bit and Cotton plays well. So long as two of the following four individuals (Fortune, Harris, Batts, and Henton) play well I think PC wins.

Actually, I think that a loss to The Hall could be very damaging to PC's chances for a bid. The friars can't takeThe Hall lightly and suffer a letdown. They need to win tomorrow night.

I agree, but I'm just trying to figure out how the computers calculate it into the RPI. I was at the Dunk watching Seton Hall beat Providence back in December and have seen their big wins since. I have great respect for them.

That's the problem with the RPI. Everyone in our league knows that a healthy Seton Hall is not a bad loss.

That's the problem with the RPI. Everyone in our league knows that a healthy Seton Hall is not a bad loss.

And I think the selection committee will recognize that too, which is why I think PC is in regardless of result tomorrow. When you look at a 21 win team who's worst loss (by far RPI-wise) is to Seton Hall, that's a tournament team. If something keeps PC out of the tournament, it's not the bad losses, it's the lack of good wins. Something beating SHU doesn't give them. The only way to get another good win is to beat Creighton in the final, which gets them the automatic bid anyway.

Losing this game would damage PC's rpi a bit, but rpi is just a portion of the selection process- not the be all end all. I don't think this game will significantly change PC's resume regardless of result.
