If Big East Wants to Reach its Ultimate Potential, then.....

the league members should hope that both St. John's (NY) and DePaul (Chicago) pick up their programs. If not, then the Big East will not get the media attention in the 2 best sports cities in America. The first TV contract is finalized but what about future ones?

Just my opinion coming from another long-time, disgruntled DePaul fan who has to watch Selection Sunday and March Madness without my favorite team participating......AGAIN!

Chicago is a terrible college sports town.

Listen to this all day long, Ill give you a cookie if you can string together 1 hour of college sports talk in 24 hours.

The Big East needs a GREAT and inspiring Conference Tournament with big games and moments to rekindle the magic of the "Big East." People will believe we're big time if they tune in to great moments... it's good tv and an amazing tournament that built the old Big East and we need to recreate that!

The Big East was a highly publicized conference in recent years not because St. John's and DePaul were good but because they were winning a lot of games, pure and simple. St. John's and DePaul's success is on the list of things good for media attention but it's definitely not at the top.

it's not like St John's and DePaul have been great the last 10 years. Yet the Big East did fine. It's production. If we get it from our top teams- we'll be fine. If they scuffle, we're goign to struggle.

I think what would be best case scenario in a lot of ways would be a final played out similarly to that Creighton/St John's game in Creighton, where McBuckets hit the game winning shot.

I think in some ways, worst case scenario would be all chalk up to finals, but then another beatdown by Creighton in the title game.

I don't think that would be worst-case scenario, as Xavier and Providence would both probably be in the tournament at that point. Worst-case scenario would be Marquette and St. John's winning, then Creighton beating up Villanova in the final.

obviously for bids, what you say is worst case. I think best case overall is anything leading up to a Creighton/Nova final- with Creighton winning on a McBuckets shot a la St John's earlier this year..

lol. I just think McBuckets would be even better only because of the NPOY angle.
