Second game tonight is another great matchup.
Marquette (9-7) at Providence (9-7), 9pm on FS1.
Late start on Senior Night at the Dunk... Cotton, Batts, Bancroft, Goldsbrough and maybe Kofane.
The winner tonight steps into a tie with Xavier for 3rd place. The loser drops into a tie for 5th with 9-8 St John's, 1 game behind.

Also, highly possible these two teams meet again next week in the Big East Quarterfinals.

I'm thinking a must win tonight for the Friars and they show up ready! Should be a full house and if the noise level can get to the last home game with Villanova all the better! CWO, Fantom, have to bring their best Duffy Dwyer to this game.... GO FRIARS.....

With a 9PM start time, the Dunk will be "well lubricated" and the house expected to be at nearly 100% capacity.

If the 2 road teams (Marquette and Creighton) win tonight, how close are we to the nightmare scenario of putting 2 teams in the dance?

After the Carrier Classic fail last year Marquette is no stranger to playing on a well lubricated gym

It's not likely, X is almost completely a lock right now. And if MU wins they're actually right on the cusp of likely being in. So two teams isn't likely.

Boxer, my man. I have to disagree with you here, bud. Short of winning the BE tourney, we are out of the hunt, unfortunately.

actually I think it's worse if PC wins tonight. Worst case would be QF of Xavier/St John's and PC/Marquette- with St John's and Marquette winning- then losing in the SF.
That would leave us with using RPI forecast
Xavier 20-12 63.3
Providence 20-12 67.7
Marquette 19-14 67.1
St John's 21-12 58.0
don't think any of the 4 get in that scenario. MAYBE St John's but that would be it.
Xavier is hardly a lock right now. If they lose last 2 games, they are almost certainly outside looking in. 63 RPI is not good enough.

Good game so far. 25 to 23 PC leads. Does seem to me that Marquette is getting easier looks in the half court which worries me for the remainder of the 1st half
